The Conference, focused on Workforce Transformation, will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019, at the Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Annual Medicare Update -Almost Sold OutThere are just a few seats remaining for HealthcareCouncil’s Annual Medicare Update program. Theprogram will be held at Healthcare Council’s Jack C.Robinette Conference Center on Friday, September20, 2019.

This annual program, planned in partnership with thewestern Pennsylvania chapter of the HealthcareFinancial Management Association (HFMA), providesparticipants with changes and strategies related topayment as well as detailed information on Third Partyreimbursement.

The opening session features partners from the firmBKD LLC. The partners will provide an extensiveupdate on new and proposed rules and regulationsfrom the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS). Cybersecurity Issues BriefingHealthcare Council will host aCybersecurity Issues Briefingon October 9, 2019, at theJack C. Robinette ConferenceCenter. The briefing coincideswith National CybersecurityMonth, which is held everyOctober by the United States

Department of Homeland Security.

Jason McLean, an attorney with the Pittsburgh-basedlaw firm Cipriani & Werner, will moderate the program,including an interactive table-top exercise. He is amember of the firm’s Cybersecurity, Privacy and DataProtection Team and works with clients to develop dataprotection plans, conduct risk assessments, ensureregulatory compliance and develop data breach riskmitigation strategies.

The program opens with apresentation by Mike McKeown,supervisory special agent withthe Federal Bureau ofInvestigation, PittsburghDivision. He leads the CyberSquad, which investigatescyber national security andcyber criminal matters inwestern Pennsylvania and the state of West Virginia.He and his squad have worked with healthcareorganizations on several cyber issues.

Following the opening presentation, Jason McCleanand Shawn Melito will lead participants in an interactivetabletop cyber security exercise. Shawn Melito is asenior director for Kivu Consulting Inc.

The program concludes with apresentation by Dan Bowden,vice president and chiefinformation security officer atSentara Healthcare, thelargest integrated healthsystem in Virginia. He hasbeen an executive leader incybersecurity and technologyfor healthcare, highereducation, banking, retail andthe military over the past 25years.

The program also includes a panel discussion on “hot”topics in cyber security related to healthcare.

PDGM TrainingHealthcare Council will host a training session on thePatient Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) from 9:30a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2019,at the Jack C. Robinette Conference Center.

Health Literacy Program atCarlow UniversityHealthcare Council of Western Pennsylvania, inconjunction with the Pennsylvania Health LiteracyCoalition, will host a regional health literacy program atCarlow University on October 25, 2019, from 8:30 a.m.until 3 p.m. This event is being held in October inrecognition of Health Literacy Month.
