CONGRATULATIONS PREPS!!!!!

CELEBRATING 100 FANTASTIC DAYS!

On Friday the 2nd of August, the Preps celebrated their 100th day of school. It has been a jam-packed 100 days full of exploration, discovery and growth. To celebrate the milestone, the Preps dressed up to the theme ‘100’ and each brought in a plate of food to share at lunchtime. During the day, they made portraits of what they might look like when they are 100 years old. They also played games based on the number 100, including ‘Snakes and Ladders,’ ‘Race to 100’ and ‘Bingo.’ At the end of the day they burnt off all the sugar by playing games at the oval organised by the wonderful Grade 5/6s. THE RICHMOND SPUDS!

And that’s a goal!

On Tuesday August 6th the Year 6 footy team went to Regionals for their spectacular inter school sports! They carpooled to Jacana at 9:30 and played

their first game of footy for the day at 10:50 am. Unfortunately, the other team just beat them by a slim two pointe. They had a short 15 minute break in between their two, thirty minute games, meaning the started their second game at 11:35 am. The 2nd team was an overall very skilled team making it merely impossible for the per-sistent R.P.S Spuds team to win. Although the R.P.S team were getting smashed by the other team with a whopping score of 15 goals - 0 goals we finally pulled through and scored a very celebratory goal! Leaving our last game with a score of 90-6. Huge thanks to Russell Sivewright for being an amazing assistant coach and also for organising the whole event, Craig Lake for being the best coach our R.P.S team could ask for and all the selfless parents for helping out and cheering us along in the freezing cold. Division Netball

On the August 1, the RPS girls netball team competed in the Division Gala Day and got through to Regionals! We played three matches, all the teams we played against tried as hard as they could, but we pulled out the victory winning all three games. We played against Fitzroy North, St. Fidelis and St.Corpus Christi. The next round is, Northern Metropolitan Region finals at Mill Park Stadium on the 13th of August, so wish us luck! Thanks to all the parents who came to support us and a special thanks to Nerida for coaching our team.

GRADE 5/6R

Spreading the Sustainability

Message Across Richmond!

Over the weekend 5/6R had a stall at the Gleadell St mar-ket to raise awareness about sustainability and the envi-ronment. There were multiple groups in the class that each had their own projects such as:

Petitions Dioramas Plants in plastic bottles And a donation jar

We had three petitions one was for getting rid of plastic straws in the Yarra community. Another was to get compost bins in Richmond and fi-nally a petition for bigger fines for people who litter. Overall we got ap-proximately 839 petition signings and also raised $291.05 with all the money going to PlasticOceans.org. We even had a visit from Adam Bandt who kindly dropped in to check out our work!

Overall it was a fantastic day and all of 5/6R took away so much from the experience. Thank you so much to Russell for giving up his Saturday to set this whole thing up!

By Lucy A and Miles
