BARUCH DAYAN EMES: We regret to to inform the kehillah of the petira of Dr. Dennis Borochovitz, father of Mrs. Yisroela Joran. Shiva is currently at Yisroela's sister's home in Beit Haggai, Israel. SELICHOS will be held at 1:00AM this Motzai Shabbos, September 6th. There will be a sicha before Selichos at 12:45AM.

YOMIM NORA’IM & SUKKOS 5776:

YOMIM NORA’IM SEATS: We ask all members to submit their reservations ASAP as seats are VERY LIMITED! The first deadline was Tuesday, September 1st.

YIZKOR BOOK 5776 registration is now available on the website or by sending an email to [email protected]. Memorialize your departed loved ones by participating in this annual fundraiser for AY. The prices are the same as last year: $50 for a full page, $36 for a half page, and $18 for name only. The deadline is Friday, September 11th. Please speak to R’ Dani Davis for more information.

The SUKKAH COMMITTEE will be led this year by Aryeh Berger. If anyone has any ideas for the enhancement of the shul's sukkah this year or would like to help with its construction, please consider becoming a member of the committee. Aryeh can be reached at (732) 379-0553. The committee will be meeting in the beginning of September.

WEEKLY TORAH QUESTION: Each week a new question will appear in the weekly announcements and answers should be sent to the Rabbi at [email protected]. Any correct answer will be entered into a monthly raffle for a free pizza at Giddy’s Pizzeria. There is a limit of one answer per household. I look forward to hearing your Torah thoughts! - Rabbi Jaffe. This week's question is: Why do we require a minimum of four days of selichos before Rosh Hashanah?

SAVE THE DATE: The next meeting of the AY Sisterhood Book Club will meet at the shul on Sunday, October 11th at 8:00PM. The book selection is "The Boston Girl" by Anita Diamant. Email [email protected] with any questions.

ADDITIONAL MINYANIM: We are gauging interest in starting two additional minyanim: 1) an early Shabbos mincha and 2) an early Sunday morning shacharis (7:00AM start). If anyone is interested and willing to commit to either minyan, please speak to one of the Gabbaim or send an email to [email protected]. We would like to start these minyanim immediately after Rosh Hashanah, if not sooner.

LEARNING SURVEY: We are now planning the program of classes with Steinsaltz Ambassadors for after chaggim. They have suggested a variety of topics that they would like to learn with us and we would like to hear from our members as to what topics are of interest to everyone. Please go on the shul website and complete the brief survey with suggested topics. We will then select the most popular ones.

If Rabbi Jaffe or President David Zelingher do not get a chance to greet you personally, please come up and introduce yourself during Kiddush. We’d like to meet you!

OUTSTANDING BALANCES: We encourage all members to redeem their pledges and tend to outstanding balances in a timely fashion. Payment plans are available for anyone who needs or would like to make monthly installment payments. Please speak to Michael Zemble to make arrangements for a payment plan.

The AY facility is also available for rental on Friday night, Shabbos day, and during the week. PLEASE NOTE: The building is now internet capable and the shul has a phone line to be used in emergency situations only. The phone is located in the add-on room of the Beis Knesses. The wireless network is locked and the password is available to members only and for legitimate purposes only (i.e. learning programs, room rental, etc.).

HATZOLAH OF MIDDLESEX COUNTY is parking an ambulance in one designated spot in our parking lot. Please do not park in or in front of this spot, which is clearly marked. Hatzolah and AY thank you for your cooperation and assistance.

RECORDS UPDATE: The Gabbaim request that members input all family lifecycle events on the website. A report is run weekly of these events, which helps the Gabbaim to distribute kibbudim and aliyahs. The annual community-wide Yomim Noraim teshuva drasha in memory of I. David and Miriam Goldstein will be delivered this year on Sunday evening, September 20th at 7:30 PM at Congregation Ohr Torah. This year's lecture, entitled "Kol Nidrei: How the Rav's Novel Interpretation Will Transform Your Yom Kippur", will be delivered by Rabbi Yosef Adler, Rosh HaYeshiva of Torah Academy of Bergen County, and Rabbi of Congregation Rinat Yisroel of Teaneck. Highland Park/Edison Connects invites you to a Women’s Potluck Melave Malka on Motzai Shabbos, September 19th, 2015 at 8:30pm.
