Coventry PeaceFestival 2017Dear reader

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2017Peace Festival.

Coventry has been spreading a message of peace and reconciliation for many years and this annual festival is a celebration of that work.

Once again we have some great events – including the Annual Peace Lecture, which is this year being delivered by an old friend of our city, the Rev Canon Paul Oestreicher, who has held key posts with CND, Amnesty International and our own Centre for International Reconciliation.

We also have the launch of the new Coventry Peace Trail and, of course, the Service of Remembrance and Poppy Drop.

Recently I was privileged to travel to our twin city of Kiel to mark 70 years of friendship where I saw some of the results of our city’s work for peace. It is so inspiring that two cities that came together so soon after the devastation of war have grown so close.

The Peace Festival helps us to honour the past, celebrate all that we have done so far and prepare for the work ahead.

Thank you for being a part of it.

Best wishesCouncillor Tony SkipperLord Mayor of the City of Coventry
