Tooling Selection

The tooling for all sizes ranging from 1/4" through 2" tube and 1/2" through 2" pipe is included with the bender.Listed below are the components required for bending each size.

Capacity Guide

*For sizes 1/2" OD and below, fully annealed steel andstainless steel tube can be bent with no limit on wallthickness.

Set-Up

Step 2 Install the quick coupling, part number3050-3, into the Cylinder Assembly. Usepipe thread sealant to assure a leak freeconnection.

Step 1 Clamp the Base Assembly in a Vise or placethe Base Assembly on a table/flat surface.

Step 3 Thread the Cylinder Assembly into theopen end of the Base Assembly.

Step 4 Install the 6' Hose Assembly into the portof the air/hydraulic pump. Use pipe threadsealant to assure a leak free connection.

Step 5 Install the quick coupling, part number3010-3, onto the hose assembly. Usepipe thread sealant to assure a leak-freeconnection.

Step 6 Connect the quick couplings on the hose andcylinder.

Step 7 Connect a 90 psi air supply to thecorresponding port on the air/hydraulic pump.

Step 1 Select the Drive Pin, Radius Block and Slide Blocks based on the Tube O.D. or inch pipe size (IPS) tobe bent. See chart on page 2.

Step 2 Thread the Drive Pin into the cylinderassembly.

Step 3 Place the Radius Block into position over thedrive pin. When using a radius block withmultiple sizes, be sure to install it with thelargest size at the bottom.

*For IPS and 1"-2" tube — Insert thelocking pin into the corresponding holesin the radius block.

Step 4 Install the slide block for the left side inthe hole location corresponding to its size,using the pivot pin as shown. For slideblocks with multiple sizes, be sure to installwith the largest size at the bottom.

Step 5 Orient the right slide block's groove that isequal to the size tube or pipe to be bent,facing the radius block. Then, install theangle indicator on the slide block as shown.

Step 6 Install the slide block/angle indicator assem-bly in the hole corresponding to its size usingthe drive pin to hold it in place.

For the following three steps, please refer to cover photo for bender orientation if needed.

Duplicating Tube Assemblies

Step 1 Mark the center of all bends on the tubeassembly to be duplicated.

Step 2 Measure from one end of the tube to thecenter of the first bend. It is necessary tomeasure along the centerline of the tubeas close as possible to achieve the correctdistance.

Step 3 Mark the tube to be bent with the measureddistance.

Step 4 Place the tube in the bender, orienting themark on the tube with the center of theradius block.

Step 5 Prior to bending, assure that there isadequate tube length to contact the slideblocks on either side.

Step 6 Keeping all hands free from the moving partsof the bender, depress the foot pedal on theair/hydraulic pump to begin bending.

Step 7 Continue operation, when the angle indicatorreaches the desired bend angle, release thefoot pedal on the pump.

Step 8 Depress the upper portion of the foot pedalto retract the radius block.

Step 9 Remove the tube. Re-orienting the slideblocks may be necessary for tube removal.

Step 10 Check the bend angle. In some cases it isnecessary to overbend a few degrees tocompensate for springback in the tube. Ifnecessary, place the tube in the bender andrepeat steps 4 through 9.

Step 11 Measure the distance from the center markon the first bend to the center of the secondbend on the original tube.

Step 12 Measure the tube to be bent from the centermark on the first bend to the distance mea-sured on the original tube. Mark the tube.

Step 13 Repeat steps 4 through 10.

Step 14 For additional bends, repeat steps 11
