RND 1: *K2, p2, rep from * to marker.

RNDS 2-8: Rep rnd 1.

RNDS 9-29: K to marker.

RND 30: *K16, PM, rep from * to first marker.

RND 31: *K to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, slip marker, rep from * to first marker.

Rep rnd 31 until 5 sts rem. Cut yarn, use darning needle to pull end through sts, and pull tight. Weave in ends. With B, make pompom and sew to top of hat.

INSTRUCTIONS: Ch 44.ROW 1: Dc in fourth ch from hook, ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch, *ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in next ch. Rep from * to end of row. Turn work.

ROW 2: Ch 3, dc in first ch sp, *ch 1, dc in next ch sp, ch 1. Rep from * to end of row. Turn work. Rep row 2 until shawl measures 57” (or desired length). Fasten off, and weave in ends.

FINISHING: Cut 11” yarn strands, and knot one strand in each ch sp along the edge (lengthwise).
