EUR/USD- Trading TheEuropean Central Bank

(ECB) Rate Decision

Euro Looks to ECBProjections, Draghi PresserforPolicy CluesInterest rate decisions from the EuropeanCentral Bank (ECB) and the Bank of England(BOE) headline the economic calendar in

European trading hours. An overt change inthe policy mix is unlikely on either front, but theECB outing offers greater scope for volatilityas investors turn to central bank PresidentMario Draghis press conference for forwardguidance.

Rhetoric suggesting an open door to negativedeposit rates or another form of non-standardeasing is likely to weigh on the Euro. An

updated set of staff economic projections isalso due, with significant downward revisionsthat fuel stimulus speculation threatening toput pressure on the single currency. Theabsence of dovish cues is unlikely offersupport however.Such an outcome wouldamount to the status quo given the pickup inpriced-in ECB policy expectations since theMay meeting, leaving the European unit

looking elsewhere for direction.
