Underpinned by Perth Mint Proof
quality, exquisite presentation, pure precious metal and glorious full-colour
coins, this stunning tribute to the iconic enigma that is Ned Kelly has triggered an extraordinary response.
A release of broad appeal,

of life fascinated with the tale of this

That limited edition – surprisingly if symbolically – has been restricted to just 1,880 sets, each comprising four flawlessly struck legal tender $1 coins.Crafted from a troy ounce of .999 fine silver, each of those coins is, in isolation, an eye-catching work of numismatic art. Combining high-relief Proof quality with state-of-the-art full-colour minting, the Perth Mint has used the expansive crown-sized flan of each coin to capture one of the key moments in Ned’s brief, turbulent life.
Forming a striking account of Ned’s reign as Australia’s most wanted outlaw, the four coins look sensational individually – and absolutely magnificent when united as one within the plush confines of the lavish timber presentation case. Excellent collector value – especially when you take into account the FREE limited edition Ned Kelly Print! – don’t ignore the opportunity to secure this sumptuous presentation at Official Issue Price.

Utterly COMPLETE!
The Australian 20c
Commemorative Collection!
Every issued 20c
type from 1966 til
today!
A comprehensive
appreciation of one
of the nation’s most
important, most
collected decimal
series, this extensive
presentation comprises
an example of every
20c type issued
for circulation in
Australia – all in strictly
Uncirculated quality!
The new
generation…
Used sparingly by
the Royal Australian
Mint, and to great
effect, the 20c as a
commemorative vehicle
is growing rapidly in
popularity. The very first
20c commemorative,
and Australia’s second
20c reverse type, the
low-mintage 1995
United Nations 20c (less
than 5m struck!) was an
instant hit, and remains
a major collector
favourite. Like the 2001
Bradman 20c, which,
as with all Bradman
coins is hotly pursued
by collector and non-
collector alike, the 1995
UN 20c was hoarded
out of circulation and is
rarely found in change.
Scarcity –
a defining
characteristic…
The difficulty in sourcing
the first two Australian
20c commemoratives
in circulation is
characteristic of
the entire series –
particularly the
RAM’s 2001 States
& Territories 20c
coins. Issued to
celebrate the
Centenary of Australian
Federation, the nine
States & Territories
20c commemoratives
are nigh on impossible
to find in change. The
extremely low mintages
(the highest is a measly
2.32m!) united with
random distribution
by the Reserve Bank
of Australia, have left
many collections bereft
of the 2001 Federation
20c dates, especially in
premium quality.
A complete
collection…
Australia’s first two 20c
commemoratives, and
the 9-coin 2001 States
& Territories Series,
are ALL included in
the 14-coin Australian
20c Commemorative
Collection – PLUS
the 2003 Volunteer
20c, 2005 WWII 60th
Anniversary 20c and a
bonus 1966-84 Platypus
20c!
With every circulating
Australian 20c type
included in this
collection – in sparkling
Mint-state Uncirculated
condition! – that
traditional search
through change is a
thing of the past!
A fine
presentation…
Underpinned by the
impeccable quality,
and tremendous value
at under A$70, this
exciting collection is
also an impressive
presentation.
Preserving the
pristine quality for
the long-term, the 14
coins are set behind
archival bubble and
sealed in a beautifully
illustrated, informative
presentation pack –
ready to wrap as an
affordable, interesting
Christmas gift!
Designed by Arnold Machin (1966-
84), Raphael Maklouf (1985-98)
and Ian Rank-Broadley (1999-2009)
respectively, all three decimal
obverse portraits of Queen Elizabeth

Houdini hits the heights!A must-have for collectors and aviation buffs alike, we are delighted to be able to unveil this sensational full-colour tribute to the 100th anniversary of the first powered flight in Australia – and to the pilot of that famous flight, the legendary Harry Houdini!
Although it was his death-defying feats of escapology that established him as a household name across the world, Houdini was also a keen aviator. On tour Downunder in 1910, he was invited by the Australian Aerial League to demonstrate his flying skills, and on the 18th of March,
prepared his Voisin bi-plane for takeoff at Diggers Rest in Melbourne. Taking to the skies three times over the course of the day, Houdini became the first man to successfully achieve powered flight in Australia, burning his name deep into the history of Australian aviation. A brilliantly designed tribute to this major breakthrough in Australian aviation development, this unique Australian legal tender coin honours the 100th anniversary of Houdini’s famous flight in pure .999 silver – and full-colour! Bearing a superb
design of Houdini’s plane, each 40.60mm 1oz Silver Proof is beautifully presented in a plush Perth Mint case, complete with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity confirming the worldwide mintage of 7,500.

Lachlan Macquarie – the Father of Australia…An official Australian legal tender tribute to one of the greatest figures of our history, this sparkling new precious metal Proof pays homage to Lachlan Macquarie – known by many as the ‘Father of Australia’.
A key player in the transformation of Australia from a ramshackle penal colony to a thriving, progressive nation, Macquarie was the fifth Governor of New South Wales, taking up the role on the 1st of January 1810. His 11-year rule had a huge influence over the course of
Australian history, with unprecedented social, economic and architectural development defining Macquarie’s time in power. The founder of Australia’s first bank (Bank of NSW), and the force behind Australia’s first locally struck coins, the 1813 Holey Dollar & Dump, Lachlan Macquarie is a national icon. Issued to commemorate the bicentenary of his appointment as Governor, this new .999 silver Proof is defined by a complex, striking design. Bearing a detailed portrait of Macquarie, the 40.60mm flan also features the 1813 Holey Dollar & Dump
and the Rum Hospital – a Macquarie initiative that would one day house Australia’s first official mint. Adorned with the words of a Macquarie dispatch to Britain, urging the authorities to adopt the name ‘Australia’, it is clear that a great deal of thought has been put into this coin, and no collector will be disappointed with the result. Surprisingly exclusive, the mintage has been set at just 7,500 Australian legal tender coins – each set in an official case with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Australian legal tender, the
36.60mm 2009 50c Leafy
Sea Dragon 1/2oz Silver
Proof is a spectacular
example of full-colour
coinage. Featuring a
brilliant portrayal of this
exotic marine inhabitant,
it is sure to impress

standard of presentation for
such an eye-catching coin,
each .999 silver Proof is set

The Australian Square Pattern A GREAT AUSSIE RARITY…Hotly pursued across the globe, Australia’s immensely rare 1919-21 Square Kookaburra Pattern Series resulted from a Commonwealth initiative to find a lighter, more durable alternative to copper pennies and halfpennies.
From 1919 to 1921, thirteen Kookaburra Pattern types were struck at the Melbourne Mint – all square and virtually all crafted from cupro-nickel. The number of Pattern coins struck by the Mint was approximately 200, with most distributed to Government officials, VIPs and dignitaries for assessment. With a distinctive shape, and lighter than the incumbent coins, the concept was met with some approval.
Unfortunately, the man behind the scheme, Treasurer William Watt, became entangled in a dispute with Prime Minister Billy Hughes. Watt’s subsequent resignation ensured the proposed Square Kookaburra coinage slipped into the pages of history – only for the rare patterns to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes to rank among the most valuable pieces in numismatics!
Exclusive, historic and surprisingly affordable, the Australian Square Pattern Silver Proof Collection forms a compelling precious metal tribute to this iconic Australian rarity.
A release of tremendous history, quality and limited availability (with just 100 sets struck!) this magnificent precious metal presentation forms a memorable, affordable celebration of one of Australia’s foremost rarities – the George V 1919-21 Square Kookaburra Patterns.
Harking back to the renowned square format and distinctively Australian wildlife theme made famous by the iconic Kookaburra Patterns, this stunning set comprises eight different Patterns. Crafted to impeccable Proof quality from lustrous sterling silver, and ranging in size from 20mm x 20mm to 30mm x 30mm, the eight Patterns carry different reverse designs depicting a variety of Australia’s beloved bush icons. Issued in Australia’s traditional predecimal denominations of threepence, sixpence, shilling and florin, four of the Patterns feature the crowned George V
portrait and are dated 1920, with the four Patterns dated 1921 distinguished by the bare-headed obverse design. Limited to a worldwide mintage of just 100, and tremendous value-for-money at an average price of less than A$35 per precious metal Proof, the opportunity to secure this unique, historic collection will not last for long. With the original dies available below,
and therefore no possibility of more Silver Patterns being struck, once these sets are gone, they will be gone forever.

Every British 50p in silver!
Drawing together every 50p design from the introduction of the denomination in 1969 until today, this sumptuous, unprecedented 40th anniversary presentation from the Royal Mint is undoubtedly one of the major highlights of British coinage for 2009.
The nation’s highest denomination decimal coin until the introduction of the £1 in 1983, the 50p plays a unique role in British numismatics. Like Australia’s 50c coin, the 50p was the chosen vehicle for commemorative issues for a substantial period, and this, combined with several design modifications, has created an interesting, varied series.
A comprehensive overview of that series, every one of the sixteen different British 50p coin types are represented in this sensational new release! Restricted to a worldwide limited edition of just 2,500, sure to sell-out at speed, the collection comprises sixteen different 2009-dated coins – each crafted from sterling silver to the highest Proof quality, and each struck in the equilaterally curved heptagon style that defines the denomination. Complete with an information booklet detailing the designs of the 50p over time, incorporating a numbered Certificate of Authenticity,
each collection is beautifully presented in an official Royal Mint case. With so few issued across the globe, and rampant demand expected in England, it was only due to our long-term support for Britain’s Royal Mint that saw us attain any allocation at all. However, with only 25 sets from the limited edition of 2,500 in stock, and little hope of securing more, time is of the essence for those interested in this exquisite, eye-catching, prestigious British legal tender presentation.

Struck using original 19th century dies!
Mintage already spoken for!
One of the most eagerly anticipated issues
in international numismatics in 2009,
Britain’s new £5 Gold BU coin has just been unveiled by the Royal Mint. A collector coin of breathtaking quality, this gargantuan 39.94g 22-carat gold £5 is destined
to be the most sought after
release in what is unquestionably
one of the world’s most prestigious,
most admired and most desirable series.
Why? Because, although blessed with the key characteristics that have made the series such a grand success – exquisite quality, superb presentation and limited availability – this majestic gold £5 coin has one very important, unique feature. A sensational innovation on the part of the Mint, the 2009 £5 Gold BU has been created using original early 19th century coinage dies – dies almost certainly worked on by creator of the St George & Dragon design, the legendary Benedetto Pistrucci! An inspired initiative, the original 19th century dies were used by the Mint’s Engraving and Historical Services Teams to create new dies for the 2009 £5, and the result is a true numismatic masterpiece. Restoring the St George motif to its original splendour, this 36.02mm 39.94g 22-carat gold coin is not only notable for the exceptionally fine
detail, but also the rare appearance of Pistrucci’s surname in full upon the reverse – the first time this has occurred since the original dies were used to strike a tiny number of £5 Patterns in 1820 during the reign of King George III!With overwhelming demand already, and the limited edition set at 1,000, our allocation of the 2009 £5 Gold BU as official distributor for the Royal Mint is strictly limited. ■ Created using
Pistrucci’s original 19th century coinage dies!
■ Exclusive! Worldwide limited edition just 1,000 – sure to sell out

As the Royal Mint has employed the dies used to strike the very first St George £5 (1820) in the creation of the 2009 £5, this imposing new 39.94g 22-carat gold coin carries Pistrucci’s surname in full – just like its original predecessor

post WWII Europe,
the Complete 1950
1 Deutschemark
(DM) Mintmark Set
represents the very
first 1DM coins
issued by the Federal
Republic of Germany
– the ‘new’ West
Germany.
A valuable, historic
compilation, this highly
symbolic cupro-nickel
set comprises four
strictly VF 1DM coins
– one from each of the
West German mints in
Munich (D mintmark),
Stuttgart (F), Karlsruhe
(G) and Hamburg (J).
Well within your reach,
an average price of
price of under A$8 per
coin is excellent value-
for-money.
Featuring an interlocking, gold-plated miniature recreation of one of the world’s most famous landmarks, this tribute to Germany’s Reichstag is rarely seen on the market.
Completed in Berlin in 1894, the Reichstag is an ideal subject
for this radical 3D minting concept. Able to be set upright or laid flat upon the host coin (a 38.61mm sterling silver Proof $10) the recreation of this architectural masterpiece is
accurate, detailed and finished in real gold. One of the early issues in the immensely successful World
Monuments 3D Series, sold out years ago, we have just a few coins in stock – each in a case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Providing a sharp insight into the life of the German nation, this stunning silver selection is defined by immense importance, superb quality, outstanding presentation and, best of all,
fantastic value-for-money!
A comprehensive collection, this compelling compilation comprises EVERY West German 5DM commemorative issued from 1966 to 1986 – a massive 38 coins! Highlighting key identities and events throughout German history, each 5DM coin is a detailed, unique work of numismatic art. Struck at the mints in Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg, the 23 coins issued from 1966 to 1978 are struck from 11.2g of 62.5% silver, with the 15 issued from 1979 to 1986 crafted from cupro-nickel. A series defined by low mintages, many of these unique types are scarce
today – especially
following the changeover of currency upon the introduction of the Euro. The 38 coins issued from 1966 to 1986 are rarely drawn together to form such an extensive presentation.Selecting only those coins we consider to be in original state, every 5DM found in this sensational collection is defined by Uncirculated condition. Complementing the quality of the coins, the complete set is housed in a magnificent, lockable, velvet-lined aluminium case, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity. Irresistible value at just A$13 per coin, we have just a few sets in stock.

The first World Monuments 3D coin struck from a whopping THREE OUNCES of pure silver – and the first to feature TWO miniature replicas! – this breathtaking collector coin is sure to be hot property worldwide.
A unique celebration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall – the barrier built by communist East Germany in 1961 to halt the flood of
departures to the west – this remarkable coin comprises two superbly detailed miniature replicas. Uniting a stunning full-colour recreation of the Berlin Wall with a .999 gold-plated representation of the Brandenburg Gate – both of which can be displayed upright atop the 55mm diameter flan, or laid flat – this desirable presentation forms a highly original tribute to a crucial milestone in German, and world, history.
■ Tiny worldwide mintage just 1,989 – sell-out certain. Features a legal tender $25 coin crafted from 3oz of .999 fine silver
■ Includes gold-plated Brandenburg Gate replica and colour Berlin Wall replica!
■ Measures a huge 55mm in diameter – features individual edge-numbering
Given the tremendous success of previous silver and gold-plated 3D coins, and the natural appeal of this particular coin to European collectors, it is a shock that the mintage has been set so low. Just 1,989 coins have been struck! With a vast proportion of the mintage reserved for Europe, a mere 20 examples of this imaginative precious metal Proof are available in Australia – exclusive to Downies!
■ Set in a stunning display case – includes Certificate of Authenticity
OWN A REAL PIECE OF THE BERLIN WALL!
SOLD OUT AT THE MINT!A once-in-
a-lifetime opportunity
for our clients, we are delighted
to present this spectacular full-colour precious metal tribute to the fall of the Berlin Wall – embedded with a genuine piece of the infamous Berlin Wall itself!
A fascinating Cold War keepsake, guaranteed as genuine, the addition of a real piece of the Berlin Wall
within the 38.61mm flan of this 25g .999 fine Silver Proof naturally led to frantic demand in Europe. Graced with a highly original, richly symbolic ‘before-and-after’ design of the Wall and Brandenburg Gate, the 5,000-coin mintage sold out in a flash – but not before we got a slice of the action! An intriguing acquisition for collector and non-collector alike, we have just a few coins available – each set in a case with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Struck by the Perth Mint as official legal tender of Tuvalu, this .999 fine silver Proof captures the Fall of the Berlin Wall perfectly. The close-up interpretation of the actual Berlin Wall is a strong symbol of the harsh, divided past
of Europe, with the superb full-colour
portrayal of a dove in flight
representing
Europe’s free, united future.
Set in an officla case with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, the 5,000 mintage of this unique 40mm silver 1oz Proof has already sold out at the Perth Mint!

Collectable, affordab Europe’s Bimetal 2€ Commemorative Series!Outstanding value-for-money; important, fascinating themes; genuine legal tender; sensational variety; brilliant, innovative designs…you might think we were talking
about Australia’s world renowned $1
commemorative series. But you would be wrong. Europe’s equivalent to the $1 denomination,
and just as collectable as
Australia’s key commemorative vehicle,
the Bimetal 2€ Brilliant Uncirculated Series is among the most collected coin programs in international numismatics.
Europe’s key coin type…Of immense importance, the 2€ denomination is THE official commemorative coin of Europe. At the introduction of the new united currency, European Union nations were given the right to select individual, ongoing reverse designs for standard issue circulating Euro coins. The 2€, however, was specifically reserved for commemorative releases, with each
nation given the option of issuing distinctive, one-year-only 2€ types – an option most nations have taken up with gusto.
Broad variety, broad appeal…Since the first 2€ BU commemorative was unveiled, in 2004, every EU member and associate member that has adopted the unified currency has issued at least one 2€ commemorative. As you can see from the table at right, this has resulted in the creation of an extensive series, with a remarkably broad variety of types to pursue –
The latest in the 2€
series!
A sensational opportunity for the massive number of Downies clients already enjoying Europe’s most popular collector series, we have TWENTY different new 2009 2€ commemorative coin types in stock!
An absolute must-have
for anyone determined to maintain a complete 2€ commemorative collection, there will never be a better time to make sure you own the latest 2€ coins. Comprising an extensive array of new types, including many extremely low mintage issues, the 2009 series is headlined by thirteen 10th Anniversary of the
Economic Monetary Union 2€ coins – issued by thirteen different European nations. In addition, we also have stock of Belgium’s 2009 Louis Braille 2€, Germany’s 2009 Saarland 2€, Luxembourg’s 2009 Grand Duke Henri & Grand Duchess Charlotte 2€, Monaco’s 2009 Prince Albert 2€, Portugal’s
le, official…the fundamental characteristic of any good collector program. Like Australia’s $1 series, however, interest in the 2€ series is in no way limited to collectors. Naturally appealing to a broad cross-section of the community, the affordability, the variety and the significance of this highly collectable series has ensured the 2€ is sought after by collector and non-collector alike – both in Europe and right round the world.
An exciting opportunity…In part, demand for this fascinating
bimetallic coin series has been driven by the tremendous affordability. Whether beginning with a particular theme, a particular date or a particular country, for example, everyone can find an affordable entry-point to Europe’s most popular coin program, with most types available at around A$10-A$15. A fantastic opportunity to start a collection, or keep your collection up-to-date, we have a huge selection of different 2€ commemorative types in stock – all in pristine Brilliant Uncirculated quality!
2009 Lusophony Games 2€, San Marino’s 2009 European Year of Creativity & Innovation 2€ and Slovakia’s 2009 20 Years Peace and Democracy 2€. With most well within your reach at a mere A$8.95 apiece, each official European bimetal 2€ commemorative coin is available in superb Brilliant Uncirculated quality.

Spectacular,
immensely rare
Error type!An excessively rare type,
the 1982 27c Tree Frog
Error is known by a tiny
number of examples.
Seldom seen on the
market, we were stunned
when given the chance
to secure an ORIGINAL
SHEET of this spectacular
Australian Error variety –
and we naturally jumped at
the chance.
As we purchased the entire
sheet – a sheet that had
been stashed away at the
time of issue and never
before been offered to
collectors – we can now
present, for the first time
ever, the 1982 27c Tree Frog
Error as a STRIP OF 10! An
incredibly rare opportunity
to secure a major Error
type in strip of 10 format,
this glaring blunder was
caused by a whopping
10mm misplacement of the
perforations on the stamp
sheet. As a result, part of
the Tree Frog design and
the words ‘Blue Mountains
Tree Frog’ on the top
stamp are found printed
upon the selvedge! A
further consequence of the
accidental misalignment of
the perforations, the stamp
at the bottom of the strip is
only partially printed, with
the ‘Blue Mountains Tree
Frog’ lettering missing!
A valuable, important
acquisition for the serious
stamp collector, the 1982
27c Tree Frog Error is one
of the most distinctive,
obvious Error stamp types
we have ever offered – and
unquestionably among
the rarest. Taken from the
original sheet and therefore
in pristine Mint Unhinged
condition, we have just a
few strips of ten stamps in
stock – jump on this rare
opportunity before it leaps
away!
Snare a rare pair!
As we purchased the
entire 1982 27c Tree
Frog Error stamp sheet,
we can also provide our
clients with the option
of securing this rare
philatelic blunder as a
pair.
An affordable alternative
to the prestigious Strip
of 10 available at left,
this extremely rare pair
demonstrates perfectly the
dramatic, glaring nature
of the 1982 27c Tree Frog
Error. With the perforations
so substantially out of line,
the Tree Frog featured
upon this early 80s issue
looks like it is hopping
from stamp to stamp!
In addition, the ‘Blue
Mountains Tree Frog’
lettering is printed at the
bottom of the stamp when
it should appear at the top!
Comprising two Errors plus
two normal stamps for
comparison, each 4-stamp
set is in Mint Unhinged
condition.

Disappeared from the market…Sold out at the Perth Mint in weeks, the 2008 HMAS Sydney II Coin & Medallion 1oz Silver Proof Set simply disappeared off the collector radar. Indeed, the mintage was wiped out so fast that we never had the chance to offer this set in Money! Following an acquisition from another dealer
selling up the last of his stock, we have the unexpected opportunity to highlight the unique qualities of this most sought after Australian military commemorative.
Marking the resolution of one of Australia’s greatest military mysteries, this set was issued after the discovery of the wreck of the HMAS Sydney II – lost with 645 servicemen following an engagement with Germany’s Kormoran in 1941. With the mystery of the Sydney’s remains stirring the public imagination for decades, and given the publicity generated by her discovery in March 2008 200km off the WA coast, it was no shock that this set was
