Congratulations to the parents of Elliana Jane Liwosz, who presented her for the Sacrament of Baptism on February 2, 2020. We welcome Elliana to the family of God.
Would you like to put your Catholic faith in practice? Do you feel a particular call to help our fellow parishioners and neighbors in need? Are you called to be a Vincentian? Vincentians are men and women who desire to grow in their faith by giving person-to-person service. They bring Christ’s hope and love to those in material and spiritual need. Our parish Society of St. Vincent de Paul is expanding beyond St. Alphonsus, where members have been serving for years. As we become a new parish, we would like to grow this ministry to other sites, to be able to help more of our brothers and sisters in need-but more Vincentians are needed. Are you called to serve as a Vincentian in your community? Come and find out: Next SVdP Meeting: Wed., Feb. 19, 7 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall. Contact Sharon at 724-926-2984 for more info. All parishioners are invited to join the "31 Club" as a way to pray for priestly vocations. Those who join pledge to perform a spiritual act of their choosing for this intention (e.g., praying a rosary). This is done once a month. There is a binder in the back of church for you to sign up. You may also sign up on the parish website.

Thanks to all those who submitted suggestions for the name of our new parish. From the initial list of 15, the list has been narrowed down to five. Please vote for you favorite name. Listed below are the five names in alphabetical order and the rationale behind them: 1. Jesus Light of Light (Jesus is our light to lead us in
a dark world). 2. Our Lady of Guadalupe (Powerful title of Mary for
conversion and for our times). 3. St. Brendan (Patron of travelers who traveled
across the Atlantic). 4. St. Christopher (Patron of travelers; reflects the
roads and trails in our area). 5. St. Isidore (Patron saint of farmers and rural
communities). Please select only one name, one vote per parishioner or parish family. Please include your name (or family name), and an email address or street address . All votes must be received by Sun., March 1, to allow time for tallying before sending to the Diocese. Submit form from last week’s bulletin, or in a note through collection basket; or via the website: grouping329.org/new-name, or mail to Sharon, c/o St. Alphonsus Church, 219 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald, PA 15057.
