WLBC Family,I wanted to take an opportunity to tell you a little about what our student ministry has going

on in the next year. We have an outstanding curriculum for Sunday school in The Gospel Project for

Students. Last year we looked at the biblical doctrine of revelation, or of God revealing who He is to

us through His Word to us. This year, we are going through an overview of the Old Testament. In

doing so, we are seeing how all of the events in the Old Testament are historically true events that

actually took place, but were also meant to point us to the Son of God who was to come. The next

section of this curriculum will be an overview of the New Testament, and then we will go on to the

doctrine of God, or what is known as theology proper. There is much time, study, and prayer spent

each week in preparing for these lessons on Sunday morning. Please join me in praying that God

will use them to change the hearts of our students. The next area we are studying in our student ministry is the gospel of John on Sunday nights.

We are currently in chapter 12 and are walking through each chapter together. We are learning how

to bring in other passages in the Bible to help us understand the difficult passages, and to read the

book of John in light of the other 65 books that make up our Old and New Testaments. Each week

we pray for countries of the world, and we take up a collection for Bibles in India. There is usually

great discussion and questions as we wrestle together with the text of Gods Word.Wednesday nights are consisting of small studies, usually four to six weeks in length. Our

latest was called The Reason for God. In it, pastor and author Tim Keller walked us through the six

most common objections to Christianity and how we can talk to people who present these objections.

In the future it is my hope that Wednesday night will continue to develop as a night of sharing, fel-

lowshipping, worshipping and praying for and with one another as we meet together. In view of the mandate of Christ to make disciples and the commands to ministers of the gos-

pel in the New Testament, the majority of the focus of our student ministry is on studying and under-

standing the Word in order to develop a deep love for Jesus Christ and the gospel. In addition to this core and focus of our student ministry, we also have times to devote to ser-

vice. We are currently doing this through serving at the Salvation Army of Lynchburg. This is a

time for our students to go and serve others in need. They both feed the residents who eat, and also

share with them about Christ. We also hope to develop more areas of service in the future. Our fellowship consists of several things. One is breakfast before Sunday school each Sun-

day. We have a game room upstairs that we open up on Wednesday nights and Sunday nights before

our study. We also take several times throughout the year to go out to eat together after Sunday

evening service. Our big event of the year will be attending Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters in North Carolina.

This will be a one week camp in the summer. This is where our students are able to engage in many

outdoor activities, as well as, be filled with the gospel. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to

learn and grow in the gospel.1

Id Like To Thank Many years ago, comedian Garry Moore hot when television was a newthing in the 1950s was the recipient of a television award for

spontaneity. Moore facetiously paid tribute to the four guys responsible formy spontaneity: my writers.

When the next award went to Bishop Fulton Sheen, he rose andapproached the podium. I also want to pay tribute to my four writers, he

declared, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John!

Bible QuizThe prophet Isaiah sometimes felt that hisfellow Jews had ceased praying and there-fore God had hidden his face from them(see Isaiah 64:7, NRSV). Yet Isaiah knew

that God was their Father and that the peo-ple were the work of Gods hand. Which ofthe following statements did Isaiah make to

    God?

    A. We are the paint, and you are an artistwho paints pictures of us.

    B. We are the clay, and you are our pot-ter.

    C. We are the putty in your hands, and yousculpt us.
