Master Exercise Frequency Analysis
1. Free-Free Vibration Analysis of a Crankshaft
Load the CATIA document "CATGPS_Crank_Shaft.CATPart"
In this master exercise, you will start by defining a "free Frequency Case". A "free frequency Case" isa "Frequency Case" without "restraints set" in the specification tree.
1.1 - Post-Processing
Open the GPS Workbench and create a Free Frequency Analysis of the crankshaftClick on the
shortcut icon
Click on Generative Structural Analysis button.
Select Free Frequency Analysis.
Click on the Rigid Virtual Part icon in the Mesh Specification toolbar
Select the flywheel face as support for the rigid virtual part.

You should obtain something like this:
You will now apply a virtual part on the other side of the Crank Shaft.
Click on the Rigid Virtual Part icon in the Mesh Specification toolbar
Select one of the two half cylindrical surfaces of damper as support for the rigid virtual part, i.e
Select outer point as part handler.
