GOOD IDEAS ARE NOT BASED UPON

EDUCATION : eg: Kabir Das, Tulsi Das, Meera Or Arya Bhat did not attend schools. AGE: eg: sant Gyaneshwar died at age of 23, Adi Shankaracharya and Swami Vivekanada died at the age of 32. PHYSICAL CONDITION: eg: Helen Keller was deaf, dumb and blind.

So let us not shy away from inviting ideas from young, illiterate/semi-literate and physically weak

Employees ideas are very important as:

They have real knowledge , because they work at grass root level

They encounter problems and they have probable solutions

They come from different backgrounds hence, management gets another perspective.

Inviting and using employees suggestions is very proven and widely adopted mechanism for improvement since long, all over the world.

EMPLOYEE SUGGESTION SCHEMEInternational Labour Organisation promotes this mechanism under its Factory Improvement Program (FIP)

Government Of India, under its Ministery of labour and employement, through Director General, Factory Advice Service And Labour Institutes(DFASLI), promotes this, and every year, declares 28 Vishwakarma Rashtriya Pushkaras (VRP).

The employees transformed the small struggling company into an icon of quality and worlds most profitable auto manufacturer Hence, realizing the value of engaged workforce, many companies have started to value employees.

AMERICAN AIRLINES American stands as an outstanding example of employee employee suggestion programs.

This Texas- based airline company earns about $55m per year

It conducts a employee suggestion program called Ideas In Flight

Out of $55m it spends $15m on its employee development

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES

Southwest airlines is the major US airlines, the worlds largest low cost carrier.Head Quarters: Dollars, Texas, US Founded: 1967Founder: Herb Kelleher, Rollin King.Net Income: 2.18 billion USD(2015)

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES Southwest airline is one of the best example of employee suggestion programs

In the year 2000, the escalating costs of jet fuel became a cause a serious concern to its CEO, Herb Keller.

He then invited suggestions from each of his employees on ways to save at least $5 per day.

OUTCOMES OF AMERICAN AIRLINES After he invited the suggestions ,from each of his employees

There was a greater response from the employees as a result they saved up to $2m that year

The employees came up with an idea to reduce the cost of heating fuel

This once resulted in significant cost cutting for the company

These examples prove that organizations today are waking up to the fact that employee participation in solving organizational problems can be beneficial . Therefore, they are adopting novel ways of involving employees in the decision making process
