  • Slide 3
  • Mobility in Ile-de-France: recent evolution 41 millions trips per day in Ile-de-France (Paris + core area = 57%, up to 87% when including the central conurbation) Walking is the main mode of transport ! Car is still very important but has not increased over the past ten years Public transport is increasingly used Public transport Cycling Walking Motorbike Car Others Daily trips (all modes)

  • The PDUIF must ensure a sustainable balance between the needs of mobility, the protection of environment and health and the financial needs. This balance shall facilitate the attractiveness of the French region Ile-de-France and guarantee the social cohesion. MOBILITY ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH, QUALITY OF LIFE FINANCING Sustainable balance In order to ensure this balance today and moreover in the future, we have to: Change the mobility conditions Change our behaviour The Ile-de-France Urban Mobility Plan (PDUIF)
  • Slide 5
  • Ambitious objectives in a context of increase of mobility + 7% due to the urban development of the region (forecast by the urban master plan) Mobility targets have been calculated in order to reach a decrease of greenhouse gas emissions of transport modes by 20% until 2020 The Ile-de-France Urban Mobility Plan (PDUIF) Walking and cycling Public transport Cars and motorbikes Daily trips in Ile-de-France (million per day) Mobility targets for 2020 Overall growth Change of survey methodology

  • The achievement of the measures will : Reduce by 20 % green house gas emissions due to transport Enhance strongly air quality The Ile-de-France Urban Mobility Plan (PDUIF) Concentrations of NOx

  • Traffic in Ile-de-France in millions of journeys: Bus transport: 30% of journeys in Ile-de-France Almost 1.3bn journeys/year 75% in a very dense area (Paris and the inner suburbs) Key figures A fleet of over 9,400 road vehicles (7,000 buses and 2,000 coaches) 4,500 on the RATP network in Paris and the inner suburbs 4,900 on 74 private operators' networks in the outer suburbs (40% of which are coaches)

  • Speeding up the renewal of the most polluting buses and development of green buses Defining scenarios that contribute to reduce the levels of pollutants rapidly (transition stage with hybrid buses and target to reach with full-electric buses by 2020-2025) Carrying out testing on the modes of the future: hybrid CNG, plug-in hybrid, full electric, hydrogen From 2014: purchase of hybrid buses and development of CNG buses In Ile-de-France, progressive renewal of a 9,000 bus fleet Greening bus fleets

  • Background 1 st quarter of 2013: STIF officials wished to begin the energy transition of the bus and coach fleet financed by the STIF (around 9,300 vehicles) During 2013: creation of 5 working groups during which the STIF officials consulted with AIRPARIF*, the operators and the manufacturers to determine the main areas of this energy transition December 2013: Vote by the STIF Board of Directors on measures to enable the energy transition of the road vehicle fleet 2014 onwards: implementation of the measures * AIRPARIF = French association in charge of studying air quality, and air pollutant concentrations

  • Developing the bus service In May 2013, the STIF Council launched a priority action plan to develop bus services in Ile-de- France by 2016. The STIF will have invested 160m over 4 years in developing the network of bus services. 10 development areas: Adapting bus networks in tandem with creating or extending public transport lanes Desaturating overburdened lines Continuing to upgrade the Mobilien and Express lines to current standards Adding to the Express network of lines Altering scheduling of major lines at off-peak times (fixed-interval timetable) Reinforcing major lines across the entire region Improving connections between bus lines and rail network lines Ensuring better continuity of service Serving major urban development projects Supporting local authorities in implementing local services

  • In December 2013, the STIF Council decided to take action to enable the road fleet to move to fully-electric and NGV Biogas vehicles: no longer purchasing diesel buses (including EURO VI standard) purchasing hybrid and NGV buses The STIF will invest around 295m over two years. By 2016, the fleet will be formed of around 720 hybrid buses and 200 NGV buses at least 10% of the fleet will use alternatives to 100% diesel. The energy transition RATP Acquiring 550 hybrid buses and 90 NGV buses (over 2 years) Private operators First series of acquisitions decided by the STIF in December 2014 and February 2015: 126 hybrid buses and 24 NGV buses on the 13 networks most exposed to pollution, nitrogen oxide and fine particulates

  • Changes in the RATP 12m and 18m bus fleet by EURO standard and fuel type: Fleet at 31/12/13 By 2016 The energy transition

  • Changes in the private operator 12m and 18m bus fleet by EURO standard and fuel type, 2013-2016: Fleet at 31/12/13 By 2016 The energy transition

  • In December 2013, the STIF Council decided to fund trials: A trial of 100% electric 12m standard buses on one urban line: 10m, of which 50% was contributed by the STIF Contract awarded by RATP to Bluebus, a Bollor group company 12m bus with the same capacity as current buses and a range of up to 180 km without intermediate recharging and even further with terminus charging. N.B.: this trial, which continues until the end of 2015, has also been selected as part of the European ZeEUS (Zero Emission Urban bus Systems) project. A trial of hybrid low-floor coaches = not yet begun. Ellisup: a trial of (hybrid)electric buses with battery boosting at an intermediate station (RATP, IVECO, ADEME). Approval of system (vehicle/charging station) pending. The energy transition

  • After 2016 Feedback to be given throughout 2015 and 2016 on hybrid buses: agreements signed with operators, aimed at sharing certain operating and maintenance data and gaining better understanding of the long-term economic relevance of 'hybrid mode'. on trial monitoring: Bluebus, Ellisup, etc. Continuing with the policy by increasing the NGV and electric fleet size without increasing the rate of fleet renewal in order to avoid future disruption NGV: discussions with operators on the bus depots that can be transformed to host NGVs + 2 RATP depots + 1 or 2 other depots run by other operators. electric vehicles: diversify trials. hybrid vehicles: continue with the acquisition policy in a reasoned manner.

  • The T Zen The T Zen a bus which combines the reliability of a tramway with optimised economic efficiency, allowing it to be adapted to different local configurations. It successfully combines all transport elements: bus lanes, stations, vehicles, information, service frequency, regularity and accessibility. introduced in 2011 (14.7 km) 4 projects under way: T Zen 2: Snart Melun T Zen 3: Paris (19th arrondissement) Les Pavillons- sous-Bois T Zen 4: Viry-Chatillon - Corbeil-Essonnes T Zen 5: Paris (13th arrondissement) Choisy 65 km of T Zen network by 2020 http://www.tzen.com/
