Install solar water heaters

The collector absorbs the solar energy and changes it into heat energy. This energy is then transferred to a fluid which is used to heat water.

The panels absorb the sun's light and transfer it to electricity.

This project is funded

by the European Union

Habitat for Humanity Armenia in partnership with Vayk and Spitak

municipalities has been implementing "Access to Renewable and Efficient Energy

in Municipalities Vayk and Spitak" (AREEM) Project.

This four-year project is financed by the European Union and co-financed by Spitak

and Vayk municipalities.

It aims to address residential and public buildings’ energy efficiency and application

of renewable energy sources in Vayk and Spitak towns.

When purchasing appliance check for the EE label

Switch off as many appliances and entertainment systems as possible when not in use. The rating scale is both color coded and alphabetized, running from A+++ to D. A+++ (Dark green) is highly efficient. D (Red) is low efficient. It is recommended to purchase household appliances of no less than A++ label.

What is Energy Saving (ES) and Energy Efficiency (EE)? ES is the reduction of energy consumption while maintaining the level of comfort in buildings for living and working. EE is the reduction of energy consumption by increasing the efficiency of energy usage. Why EE? 1. Reduced need for energy, reduced dependence of the country generating or importing energy/electricity. 2. Reduced energy expenses for utilities and strengthening the domestic budget, improved economic situation. 3. Reduced emission of greenhouse gases (CO2) - the cause of global warming.

This will decrease your thermal loss by about 25%

Energy efficient windows and doors can save from 15% to 25% on your monthly heating

and cooling bills.

Turning your thermostat down by just 1 degree can reduce your energy consumption by over 5%.

Replace incandescent lamps with LEDs LED lamps use about 80% less energy and last 8-10 times longer than regular bulbs.

Energy Saving Tips!

1 Insulate your loft with at least 15 cm thick mineral wool or other fire resistant insulation

2

Insulate outside walls with foam board or mineral wool insulation

3

Replace old frames

Get multiple panes Double-or triple-paned PVC windows are great for keeping the heat in and the cold out.

4

Use window dressings

Close blinds on the sunny

side in summer to

keep out the hot sun and

open them in winter to bring in

warm rays.

5 Radiator reflectors will save up to 5% of the heating energy.

Use reflective radiators

6

Install control valves on radiators (thermostats)
