Let’s read about popcorn.
Did you know that popcorn comes in two different shapes? Snowflake
popcorn is the large, fluffy kind. You get this type of popcorn at movie
theaters. Mushroom popcorn is smaller and
doesn't crumble. Flavored popcorn, like
caramel corn, comes in this shape. Did you
know that popcorn kernels can fly 3 feet into
the air? Popcorn kernels have a small drop of
water in them. When you heat a kernel the
water turns into steam. The kernel explodes
and turns inside out! Before stoves and
popcorn makers, people used sand to makepopcorn. They heated the sand with fire and waited for the kernels to
pop. Popcorn made in an air popper is a very healthy snack . Some
people prepare popcorn in oil. Others add lots of butter and salt to
their popcorn. The tastier the popcorn, the less healthy it is!
