Ms. A. Callas Issaquah High School 700 2nd Ave SE Issaquah, WA 98027 February 24, 2020 Dear Parents/Guardians: Students in the Resource English Language Arts classes will begin work on a novel study based on the work of one of the Pacific Northwest’s most-beloved living authors – Sherman Alexie. For reasons too numerous to list here, “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian” is a particularly powerful novel for young adults, in part because it speaks directly to their own lives, their peers’ lives and the lives of other teens throughout the world around them. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian won The National Book Award. Please know that this book is on the Issaquah School District’s approved reading list. Classroom copies of the book have been checked-out of the Issaquah High School library. We have a copy of the book for each student to read in class. Thank you in advance for your support. Sincerely, Ms. Adora Callas English language Arts Issaquah High School
