externalshingneck.Downwardjarringisutilized
toreleasethetooltobepulled.
Operation
ThetoolisoperatedbylocatingtheESBovertheexternalshingneckofthetooltobepulled.Thepullingtooldogslatchontotheshingneck.Camsurfacesonthedogsforcethelowerendofthedogstobepressedinward,therebyensuringastronglatch.
Shouldthepullingtoolnotbeabletoretrievethedownholetool,itcanbereleasedfromtheshingnecksoitmaybebroughtoutofthehole.Theshearpincanbeshearedwithrepeatedseverejarring.Oncesheared,thecylinderspringforcesthecoretomoveup.Thisreleasesthepullingtooldogs.Oncethelipsofthepullingtooldogsrelease,theESBcanberemovedfromtheholeandtheshearpinreplaced.

ChangingtheShearPin
1.GriptheCylinderinaviseandremovethesubshearpinretainer.Removetheshearpinwithapunchandhammer.
2.Compressthepullingtooluntiltheentireshearpinholeisproperlyalignedandvisible.
3.Insertanewshearpin.
4.ReplaceboththeshearpinretainerandtheSub.
Disassembly
1.Gripthecylinderofthepullingtoolinavise.
2.RemovetheSubandtheshearpinretainer.
3.RotatetheCoresothatthelowerholesinitalignwiththeholesinthecylinder.InsertapunchorsomeothersimilartooltopreventtheCorefromturning.RemovetheNut.
4.Removethepunch.
5.Removethecylinderspring.
6.Removethecore.
7.Removethedogs.
8.Removethewasher.
9.Removethedogspring.
Assembly
TheassemblyoftheESBisdoneinreverseexceptfortwoaspects.Beforethe
cylinderspringisreplaced,alignthelowerholeofthecorewiththatofthe
cylinderandinsertapunch.Afterthenuthasbeenreplaced,removethepunch
andpushthenutdownuntiltheuppershearpinholeonthecoreisaligned
withtheholeinthecylinder.
