Students will practice listening skills.
Students will learn how to make requests using would you like correctly.

Warm Up!
Alphabet Game
1. Place the alphabet cards in a basket and mix them up.
2. Have the students take turns selecting a card from the basket.
3. The student will say 5 English words which begin with the letter on their card.
4. Allow students at least two turns before ending the game.
20 minutes Homework Review
Review: pp.108-111 in the Workbook. (Carol’s Class: pp.110-111).
Answers are found in the back of the workbook starting on p.132.

Lesson A: Get Ready
Ask students to open their Ventures 2 Student Book to pp.122-123.
Section 1 (Before you listen)
1. Exercise A: Ask students to study the picture and ask them what they see.
2. Exercises B-C: Complete the exercises as written in the book.
Ask several questions to individual students using the three levels of
questioning: Yes/No, “Or” questions, and “Wh-” questions.
Section 2 (Listen)
1. Exercise A: Play Class Audio CD-2, track #30 and instruct the students to
complete the exercise independently.
Play it again to allow them another chance to listen
Review the answers afterward.
2. Exercise B: Play track #30 again and complete the exercise together as a
class.
Section 3 (After you listen): Use the questions in the section to facilitate a discussion
on the unit theme.

Real Life English
Ask students to think about a time since the last class when they used English outside
the classroom. Ask a few students to share about this experience.

Lesson B: Grammar Check
Ask students to open their Ventures 2 Student Book to pp.124-125.
Section 1 (Grammar Focus):
1. Review the grammar chart together.
2. Turn to p.145 and review the section labeled Would you like…?.
Section 2 (Practice)
1. Exercise A: Complete the exercise together as a class.
Then play CD-2, track #31 and instruct the students to repeat what
they hear on the audio.
2. Exercise B: Divide the class into pairs.
Students will practice constructing and answering requests using the
pictures with information below it and the dialogue model in the boxes
next to the speech bubbles in the exercise.
Review together as a class once the groups are finished with the
assignment.
Section 3 (Communicate)
1. Ask two volunteers to read the dialogue box aloud to the class.
2. Using the same pairs, instruct them to have a conversation using the dialogue
box as a guide on how to structure their discussion.
3. Circulate around the room and assist with sentence structure and pronunciation
as necessary.

Student Interview
Give each student a copy of the Collaborative Activity 10B handout.
1. Exercise A: Students will answer the questions, writing them down on the
space provided in the exercise.
2. Exercise B: Students will then ask different classmates the questions in the
chart and record their names and responses in the space provided.
NOTE: Be sure that students are asking and answering questions using complete sentences
using the model provided above the chart on the handout.
Recap
Ask students about what the class reviewed today. Write their answers on the
whiteboard.
Homework
Assign pp.116-117 in the Workbook for homework. (Claire’s Class: pp.114-117)
Dismiss the class
