MESSAGE FROM FR. JULIO NEW YEAR NEW LIFE We'd like to make getting new life so easy, but we re-alize that it's not, that we always achieve only what we sow, what we're growing day by day, the values we learn to appreciate and practice are those that grow in us and not others. The pandemic has also shown us this reality. It would have been desirable that many more would have got-ten closer to God in the face of adversity, seeing the sickness and death abound and prowl everywhere. It would have been desirable and understandable that not only those who were already assiduous practition-ers of the faith, but those who did not approach God, before adversity they would have approached Him, but unfortunately it was not so, in fact, there are many who have walked away. And it is because the influence of the enemy in the world is great, and he has managed to get many to turn their backs on God in such a radical way that they don't even come to contemplate the possibility of their assistance in adverse time, ... God was taken out of the world, by people without faith; outside the media and from public spaces relegated to the field of each per-son’s private beliefs. At this turn of year it would be good to review what place we give to God in our life, what place we would like to give Him, what we believe He should have. What place would you like to have given him at the end of your days in this world. Today you are in time to help God gain space in your life and in your heart. Galatians 6:7-8. Make no mistake: God is not mocked, for a person will reap only what he sows, because the one who sows for his flesh will reap cor-ruption from the flesh, but the one who sows for the spirit will reap eternal life from the spirit. Time to take stock, as in companies, check what comes in and what comes out, to see if there's a balance in favor. What are you letting into your mind? Because that's the one that's going decide, to heal or to get sick, to make it a bearer of good fruits to give and blessings, or poison and pestilence. What do I let in? And what do I let out? That is what depends on whether you're a blessing for others, a burden, or one more pain in the body of Christ, a member healthy from their body or a sick one. Just as health depends on what you eat, spiritual health also depends on that. 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23. Test everything; retain what is good. Refrain from every kind of evil. May the God of peace himself make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul, and body, be preserved blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

MENSÁJE DE PADRE JULIO AÑO NUEVO VIDA NUEVA Quisiéramos que conseguir vida nueva fuera así tan fácil, pero nos damos cuenta de que no lo es, de que logramos siempre solo lo que sembramos, lo que vamos cultivando día a día, los valores que aprendemos a apreciar y practicar son los que crecen en nosotros y no otros. La pandemia nos ha dado muestras también de esta reali-dad. Hubiera sido deseable que muchos mas se hubieran acercado a Dios ante la adversidad, al ver la enfermedad y la muerte abundar y merodear por doquier. Hubiera sido deseable y entendible que no solo los que ya eran asiduos practicantes de la fe, sino los que no se acercaban a Dios, ante la adversidad se hubieran acercado a Él, pero lamentablemente no fue así, de hecho, son muchos los que se han alejado. Y es que la influencia del enemigo en el mundo es mu-cha, y ha logrado que muchos le den la espalda a Dios de un modo tan radical que no llegan ni siquiera a contem-plar la posibilidad de su asistencia en tiempo adverso, … Dios fue sacado del mundo, por gente sin fe; fuera de los medios de comunicación y de los espacios públicos y rele-gado al campo de las creencias privadas de cada quien. En este cambio de año sería bueno hacer revisión de que lugar damos a Dios en nuestra vida, que lugar quisiéra-mos darle, cual creemos que le corresponde y debe tener. Que lugar quisieras haberle dado al final de tus días en este mundo. Hoy estas a tiempo de ayudar a Dios a ga-nar espacio en tu vida y en tu corazón. Gálatas 6,7-8. No se engañen: de Dios nadie se burla. Cada uno cosecha lo que siembra. El que siembra para agradar a su naturaleza pecaminosa, de esa misma natu-raleza cosechará destrucción; el que siembra para agradar al Espíritu, del Espíritu cosechará vida eterna. Tiempo de hacer balance, como en las empresas, revisa lo que entra y lo que sale, para ver si hay saldo a favor. ¿Qué estás dejando entrar en tu mente? Porque eso es la que la va a configurar, a sanar o a enfermar, a hacerle portadora de frutos buenos para dar y de bendiciones, o de veneno y pestilencia. ¿Que dejo entrar en mí? ¿Y que dejo salir? De eso depen-de que seas una bendición para los demás o una carga más, o un dolor mas en el cuerpo de Cristo, un miembro sano de su cuerpo o uno enfermo. Igual que la salud de-pende de lo que ingieres, la salud espiritual también de-pende de eso. 1 Tesalonicenses 5,21s. Examinen todo y quédense con lo bueno. Manténganse alejados de todo lo malo. Nosotros oramos para que Dios mismo, el Dios de paz, los purifi-que completamente para que pertenezcan sólo a él. Tam-bién pedimos para que todo su ser: su espíritu, su alma y su cuerpo permanezcan siempre sin mancha para cuando el Señor Jesucristo regrese.


SAINT ANGLEA OF FOLIGNO/SANTA ANGELA DE FOLIGNO January 8th

Some saints show marks of holi-ness very early. Not Angela! Born of a leading family in Folig-no, Italy, she became immersed in the quest for wealth and so-cial position. As a wife and mother, she continued this life of distraction. Around the age of 40, she recog-nized the emptiness of her life and sought God’s help in the Sacrament of Penance. Her Fran-ciscan confessor helped Angela to seek God’s pardon for her previous life and to dedicate herself to prayer and the works of charity. Shortly after her conversion, her husband and children died. Selling most of her possessions, she entered the Secular Franciscan Order. She was alternately absorbed by meditating on the crucified Christ and by serving the poor of Foligno as a nurse and beggar for their needs. Other women joined her in a religious community. At her confessor’s advice, Angela wrote her Book of Visions and Instructions. In it she recalls some of the temptations she suffered after her conversion; she also expresses her thanks to God for the Incarnation of Jesus. This book and her life earned for Angela the title “Teacher of Theologians.” She was beati-fied in 1693, and canonized in 2013.

8 de Enero Algunos santos muestran marcas de santidad muy temprano. ¡Angela no! Nacida de una familia líder en Foligno, Italia, se sumer-gió en la búsqueda de riqueza y posición social. Como esposa y madre, continuó esta vida de dis-tracción. Alrededor de los 40 años, recono-ció el vacío de su vida y buscó la ayuda de Dios en el Sacramento de la Penitencia. Su confesor fran-ciscano ayudó a Angela a buscar el perdón de Dios para su vida anterior y a dedicarse a la oración y a las obras de caridad.

Poco después de su conversión, su marido y sus hijos murieron. Vendiendo la mayoría de sus posesiones, entró en la Orden Franciscana Secu-lar. Ella fue absorbida alternativamente por me-ditar en el Cristo crucificado y sirviendo a los pobres de Foligno como enfermera y mendigo para sus necesidades. Otras mujeres se unieron a ella en una comunidad religiosa. Por consejo de su confesor, Angela escribió su Libro de Visiones e Instrucciones. En ella recuer-da algunas de las tentaciones que sufrió después de su conversión; también expresa su agradeci-miento a Dios por la encarnación de Jesús. Este libro y su vida ganaron para Angela el título de "Maestro de Teólogos". Fue beatificada en 1693, y canonizada en 2013.
