NO OFFENSE TO THE OFFENSELast year during ETSU’s non-conference schedule, they scored 70 or more points on four different occasions, but

were able to turn those four 70-plus point performances to just two non-conference wins. To this point in the Bucs non-con they have still not scored 70, but have won four times, allowing between 60 and 62 points in all four of their wins

while claiming victory by an average of 4.5 points per game.

SILENCING THE SUPPORTING CASTFollowing ETSU’s 65-60 win over South Alabama, head coach Brittney Ezell stated that the Bucs game plan was

to take away those around Sun Belt Preseason First-Team selection Savannah Jones. While Jones scored 25 points, ETSU executed their approach to perfection, holding the

rest of the Jaguar starters to 7-33 from the floor, 1-11 from three-point range and just 22 combined points.

STIFLING THE SOUTHERNERSSouth Alabama came into Brooks Gym looking to follow up their 81-74 2018 win over ETSU with another of the

same variety before the holiday break. The Blue and Gold, though, were having none of it, holding the Jaguars to 30.6 percent shooting from the field, a new season standard and just the second time the Bucs have held an opponent under

35 percent shooting this year.

LIVING AT THE LINEOn her way to a career-high 29 points, redshirt junior guard Micah Scheetz went to the free throw line 18 times, making

16 of her attempts. The 16 makes ties Tara Davis’ 2011 mark for most in a single game in program history, Davis

also going 16-18 in 2011 versus Jacksonville.

FREE-FOR-ALLETSU’s offense continues to go on the attack. Heading into their contest with South Alabama having made 20 or more free throws five separate times on the season, the Bucs

set a season-high by draining 26, tying for the most since ETSU returned to the Southern Conference six years ago.

MAKING THE MOST OF ITAfter converting at a 75 percent or better clip at the free

throw line just six times in a game last season, ETSU has already reached that mark just 13 games into the 2019-20

campaign, having met the threshold six times following their 26-33 performance from the charity stripe against South

Alabama.

LEAVING LAST YEAR BEHINDThe 67-60 success at home against Wake Forest marks

ETSU’s third non-conference victory of the year, surpassing their total non-conference conquests from the 2018-19

season. The Blue and Gold’s victory over South Alabama means they’ve now doubled their pre-league amount of two

from last year’s campaign.

WE PREFER CROISSANTSFor the third straight season, ETSU has logged a single-dig-it turnover game. In 2017-18 the Bucs turned the ball over just eight times against Wofford, in 2018-19 the Blue and

Gold gave away the rock just seven times against Furman and last time out against Wake Forest ETSU surrendered possession just eight times. The eight turnovers against

a non-conference opponent is the fewest in a non-league game this decade.

SHOWING A RESOLVEETSU is 4-2 in final games of a calendar year under head

coach Brittney Ezell, beating George Mason, Iona, Old Dominion and most relevantly to Tuesday’s contest, North

Greenville just two seasons ago, a Division II program from Conference Carolinas, the same league as Tuesday’s foe

Converse College.

IT’S RAINING SCHEETZMicah Scheetz matched or bested her career-high in scor-ing five times during league play alone last year, her first

season on the court with the Bucs. For an encore, Scheetz hasn’t slowed down this season, scoring in double-figures in 23 of her 39 career games at ETSU, including 16 of her last 17 dating back to the end of last season, also setting

a new career-high by scoring 29 points against South Alabama.

SETTING THE PACERedshirt junior guard Micah Scheetz has led ETSU in

scoring five consecutive games, including scoring 20 in back-to-back games against Troy and Georgia Tech. The strong streak of scoring has moved Scheetz into the top

40 in the country in points with 219, surpassing 500 on her career with her 20th point against South Alabama.

A HELPING HANDWith just three career assists entering Sunday’s matchup with Georgia Tech, sophomore Shynia Jackson doled out three in just 15 minutes of game action against the Yellow

Jackets to match her career total.

DO THESE THINGSIn three of the Bucs’ four wins, they have done the following

things in each:-Scored more points off turnovers than their opponent

-Scored more fast break points than their opponent-Held opponents to 20 percent or below from three-point range

-Shot above 40 percent-Turned the ball over 16 times or less

LINE-ING UPHaving made nearly 69 percent of their free throws, if the season

were to end today, the 2019-20 Buccaneers would be the pro-gram’s most successful free throw shooting team since the school returned to the Southern Conference. Led by Micah Scheetz 72

conversions from the stripe, a mark that puts her top-10 nationally in free throws made, the Bucs are now 220-320 from the stripe,

putting them top-five in the nation in both attempts and makes as a team.

STAT STUFFINGUpton logged a career-high seven rebounds against

Appalachian State, breaking her previous career-high of six set in last year’s regular season finale against UNCG.

In the ensuing game, Upton tied her career-high in assists, distributing six against Davidson while doing the same

versus Cleveland State. More recently, Upton set a new career-high in free throws made with seven against Troy while setting a personal standard for field goal attempts

against Georgia Tech with 12 and tying her career scoring mark with 14 points versus the Yellow Jackets.

The 2018-19 SoCon All-Freshman honoree’s 14 points against Georgia Tech, her third double-digit scoring effort of the season and the ninth of her career, tied her career-high in scoring, the third time she has scored 14 points over her

first year-and-a-half on campus.

STEPPING UPRight when the Bucs have needed her, Amaya Adams has entered

the starting lineup and ramped up her production. Adams, who had just 19 career points going into her first career start Nov. 21 v Radford, has since scored 51 points, logging a career-high 11

against Troy, her first career double-figure scoring effort. Adams strong scoring output has been courtesy of much-improved

efficiency from the floor. Last season in limited action, Adams went 5-24 from the field, but the sophomore leads ETSU in field goal percentage this season, shooting 46 percent from the field

(19-41).

CANT STOP WONT STOPGuards Micah Scheetz and Kaia Upton have been work-

horses on the floor for ETSU this year, the duo playing 35.5

and 35.2 minutes per game, respectively. Scheetz 35.5 per contest places her third in the Southern Conference in minutes per game, while Upton slides in one spot behind

Scheetz. Entering the matchup with South Alabama, Upton was the only Buccaneer to play the full 40 in a game this

year, going the distance in the 67-61 win over Appalachian State and once again in the Bucs 62-54 loss to Cleveland

State, but Scheetz joined her, never leaving the floor in ETSU’s 65-60 victory.

NO ONE TRICK PONYIn addition to her scoring prowess, tying for the team-lead in points against Wake Forest by scoring 16, leading the Bucs on her own with 18 against Cleveland State and 20

against Troy, redshirt junior guard Micah Scheetz also tied for the team-lead in rebounding against the Vikings and

Demon Deacons with seven boards each game, setting and matching her career high.

60 (-40) MINUTESStepping into the starting lineup this season, sophomore forward

Shynia Jackson has done her best work when she has been afforded at least 20 minutes on the court on a given night. In

the three games she’s played at least 20, Jackson is shooting 47 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and averaging 11.3 points per game. In nine games when she hasn’t gotten to 20 minutes, Jackson is shooting 31 percent from the field, 0-11 from three and is scoring just 3.5 points per game. Additionally, Jackson being on the court leads to team success, as the Bucs

are 3-1 when she plays 20 or more minutes.

MAKING HER OWN WAYHaving attended East Nashville Magnet High School, Southern

Conference All-Freshman honoree Kaia Upton enters her second year as ETSU’s starting point guard. Upton finished second on the

team in minutes and assists in her freshman season, and the Nash-ville native has pulled into the assist lead in the 2019-20 campaign with 48 entering Tuesday’s contest with Converse College. Upton’s 3.6 assists per game ranks fifth in the Southern Conference while

her 1.2 assist-to-turnover ratio is seventh-best in the league.

BREAKING THROUGHAfter entering the day with one point in her short time at ETSU, junior transfer Cierrah Perdue made her only field

goal attempt against Cleveland State, the first conversion of her Division I career. With Perdue’s make, every Buccaneer

that has seen on-court action has now made at least one field goal this season.

WE HAVE THE POWERETSU’s 67-60 win over Atlantic Coast Conference opponent

Wake Forest was the Bucs first over a Power 5 program since a 2008-09 road upset of the University of Kentucky, a

59-50 final 12 years ago December 12th.

HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTIONETSU’s 67-60 win over Wake Forest gave ETSU their first

home triumph of the year. The victory broke the longest home losing streak to start a season for the Bucs in at least

40 years (when home and away designations become unavailable).

NOTHING FROM NOTHING LEAVES NOTHINGOne of the big keys in ETSU’s upset victory over the ACC’s Wake Forest

came from the Bucs perimeter defense, the Blue and Gold witnessing the Demon Deacons loft 13 threes, but making none. The shutout

from beyond the arc is the first time ETSU hasn’t allowed a triple since February 21, 2015 in a 70-49 win over Mercer. Opponents hadn’t done

much better since, making just 8 of their 37 attempts from distance enter-ing Sunday’s game against Georgia Tech, though the Yellow Jackets

exploded for 12 threes on 21 attempts in the win over ETSU. Despite the Yellow Jackets getting revenge on behalf of the ACC, the Bucs are still second in the Southern Conference in opponent three-point field goal

percentage, allowing success just 28.8 percent of the time from outside.

FINISHING THE FRUSTRATIONEntering the Bucs matchup with Wake Forest, junior

transfer Gabby Brown was 0-10 from the field, still looking for her first field goal since transferring from Pearl River

Community College. But at long last, Brown put the early struggles behind her, hitting a corner three against Wake

Forest. Brown has tallied a field goal in four of her last five games.

BLOCK PARTYAfter blocking two more shots against South Alabama, junior center

Tijuana Kimbro has swatted multiple shots in nine of the Bucs 13 games, leaving her with a team-best 25 rejections on the season, a mark that leads the Southern Conference. Kimbro’s 25 are part

of the Blue and Gold’s 52 total blocks, which is good for 59th nationwide.

While she struggled offensively against Troy, breaking her string of three straight games in which she scored in dou-ble-figures by going 1-6 from the field against the Trojans,

Tijuana Kimbro also crashed the glass like few have in recent history for the Bucs. Kimbro’s 14 rebounds are the most for a member of the Blue and Gold since Shomari

Kendrick had 17 against Iona December 29, 2015.

HURTING AT HOMEETSU dropped to 0-4 at home this year with the 75-60 loss versus Davidson. The sluggish home start marks the first time in at least 40 seasons ETSU has lost their first four

home games.

LET ME HELPIn the Bucs 75-60 defeat at the hands of Davidson, the

Blue and Gold set a new season-high for assists in a game, assisting on 11 of their 18 field goals.

ROAD RAGEETSU’s went on the road to the Holmes Convocation

Center and came away with an result against Appalachian State, a 67-61 victory marking their second road win of

the year in four attempts. With just nine healthy bodies to send to the court, the Blue and Gold’s second win away

from Johnson City equals the total the 2018-19 Buccaneers claimed through the entire year.

SHOULDERING THE LOADHaving accounted for 63 of ETSU’s 67 points in their win

against Appalachian State, the ETSU starting five claimed 94 percent of the Buccaneer points. Surprisingly, it isn’t the first time the Blue and Gold’s starters have had that

lopsided of a scoring margin over their bench this season, ETSU’s starter scoring 97 percent of ETSU’s points against the University of Tennessee in the season opener (66 of the 68) and also breaking 90 percent against Liberty (58 of the

63, 92 percent).

BATTLING BACKAfter appearing in four games while attempting to battle

through lower-body injuries, Jada Craig is unable to continue in the immediate with ETSU, ruled out indefinitely after the UNC-Asheville game. Craig has had injuries to her

knees and one of her quads over the last three seasons and will be re-evaluated throughout the non-conference

season.

DOUBLE DIPE’Lease Stafford, who had just 11 rebounds her entire freshman season, boarded her way to her first career

double-double against UNC-Asheville. Stafford scored 10 points while ripping down 10 rebounds in the loss to the

Bulldogs, also achieving her second collegiate double-digit scoring night.

A SHOOTER AND A SINGERShynia Jackson showed up in a big way against Appalachian State

in the Bucs 67-61 win over the Mountaineers. Jackson, who had

twice scored 11 points to set, and later match, a career-high, went 8-13 from the field and 3-6 from distance at the Holmes Convoca-tion Center on her way to a new career-high 19 points to go with a career-best seven rebounds. Jackson finished second on the team in scoring as Micah Scheetz scored 20, the duo leading the Blue

and Gold to their second victory of the year.

LAST (DIVISION) ONE STANDINGNorth Carolina A&T’s 80-69 win over the Bucs lifted the Aggies from the ‘dubious distinction’ category in ETSU’s

record book. The MEAC side’s win was their first in program history over the Blue and Gold, leaving just one Division I team that has played the Bucs multiple times and not win, that being George Mason. West Virginia State and

Maryville, both non-Division I programs, join George Mason in their frustrations against ETSU.

WHISTLEBLOWERSETSU had 37 fouls called against them at the Corbett

Sports Center versus North Carolina A&T that led to 46 Aggie free throws, 30 of which they made. Going back to the 2011-12 season, no Buccaneer team has had 30 fouls called on them in a single game, 37 marking far and away

the most whistled against the Bucs over their last eight-plus seasons of play. Outside of that contest, no opponent has attempted more than 20 free throws against ETSU and no

opponent has made double-figure freebies.

FREE THROW FINESSEIn the Blue and Gold’s loss to High Point, ETSU made 22 of their 26

free throws, their 84.6 percent conversion rate the highest for the program on a night they’ve attempted at least 25 free throws since December 2, 2012 when the 2012-13 Bucs made 85.2 of their 27

free throws against Morehead State in a 57-53 win.

FANS SHOWED UP, BUCS SHOWED OUT5,881 attended ETSU’s season-opener against the Univer-sity of Tennessee, the second-largest crowd in program his-tory. The only audience bigger for the Bucs was the 2016-

17 game against the Lady Vols in the ETSU MiniDome, 6,072 showing up to the 83-58 Tennessee victory.

BATTLE TIL’ THE END BUCSThe Bucs moved above .500 in one-point games over the last decade with their 63-62 win over Liberty. ETSU is now

5-4 in one-point results and, dating back to the 2014-15 season, have won three of their last four one-point games. The one-point win over Liberty broke a four-game streak of

the Bucs losing one-possession contests.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART ISETSU’s 2019-20 roster sees six players staying home to

play for the Blue and Gold. Mykia Dowdell, Micah Scheetz and Anajae Stephney all come to ETSU from the Knoxville area, Erica Haynes-Overton and Kaia Upton both attended East Nashville Magnet High School in central Tennessee,

and Tijuana Kimbro comes from the furthest reaches of the state in Memphis.

PRESEASON PROJECTIONSETSU garnered a fourth-place spot with 38 votes from the coaches and 78 from the media. The polls varied signifi-

cantly from spots one through six, with only the two groups only agreeing on the Bucs being fourth in the top six.

NOTHING EASY

After a competitive schedule ranking 29th in the country in 2018-19, this season will be yet another difficult non-con-ference schedule with the University of Tennessee, Wake

Forest and Davidson amongst ETSU’s opponents.Over the last three seasons ETSU has played 11 games

against Power 5 teams: In addition to their Power 5 oppo-nents in that time, they have also played Cincinnati twice

and a #6 Notre Dame team.

STANDING TALL IN THE SOCONThe 2018-19 Bucs’ 8-6 conference record was their fifth

straight season finishing above .500 in league play and the fourth time in five years ETSU finished in the top three in

conference action.

STANDING REALLY TALL IN THE SOCON At 6’4”, Hutchinson Community College transfer Tijuana

Kimbro enters the season as the second-tallest player on a Southern Conference roster. Kimbro will only be looking up

at Leslie Golden of Samford, who stands 6’5”.

FORGET FRESHMENETSU’s 2019-20 roster is made up of 10 upperclassmen,

five sophomores, and no freshmen. It is the first time since the 2005-06 season the Bucs field a team devoid of

collegiate first years.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR MEInjuries to seniors Taisha Murphy and Anajae Stephney will keep them sidelined during the 2019-20 season. Additionally, Jasmine Sanders will have to sit out the 2019-20 season after transferring

from Troy, while Mykia Dowdell’s waiver and subsequent appeal to play immediately after transferring from Middle Tennessee State

was denied by the NCAA November 13.

EZELL APPROACHING 100Entering her seventh season at the helm for the Blue and Gold, head

coach Brittney Ezell began the year just eight wins short of reaching 100 in her time at ETSU. Exactly half of

those victories came in Southern Con-ference play, the Buc boss carrying an impressive 46-25 record into the 2019-20 campaign, good for a .647 winning percentage. ETSU’s 65-60 win over South Alabama gave Ezell

her 96th win on the Buc bench.

MCCLINIC MOVING UPFollowing three seasons as an

assistant coach for seventh-year Buccaneer head Brittney Ezell,

Keisha McClinic takes on the title of associate head coach entering her fourth season on staff. Ezell: “This

is in appreciation and recognition of the loyalty and hard work that Keisha McClinic has given, and will continue

to give, to ETSU Women’s Basketball. Keisha has done a tre¬mendous

job in assisting us define our team’s athletic identity, in motivating and

monitoring individuals to academic success and in contributing to holding

our program’s cultural standards to the highest levels.”

KELLY THE CONQUERORFollowing her first season as a

member of the ETSU coaching staff, assistant coach Kelly Mathis takes on new challenges in her second season. Mathis has added the title of recruiting

coordinator to her growing list of re-

sponsibilities, while she also returned to the classroom in August, beginning

her soon-to-be degree in ETSU’s Brand and Media Strategy program.

HERALDED HOUTSThe lone addition to the 2019-20

coaching staff is former WNBA draft pick Ashley Houts. The second round selection of the New York Liberty in 2010, Houts played seven years of

professional basketball before moving to the coaching realm, her two years of experience before joining ETSU

coming at Missouri State as the Direc-tor of Operations for the Lady Bears.

STICKING AROUNDFormer ETSU Women’s Basketball

mainstays Britney Snowden and Malloree Schurr are making a return to the program as graduate assis-

tants starting in the 2019-20 season. Schurr, a dual-sport athlete for the

Blue and Gold in her five-year athletic career, returns after finishing her

on-court basketball career two years back, the versatile forward/outfielder then taking a graduate year to use her final season of softball eligibility

in 2019. Snowden, who came on strong in conference play and finished

as the Bucs leading rebounder and third-leading scorer last season, goes straight from her playing career into a

support role for Coach Ezell.

ETSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL2019-20 GAME NOTES

12

Brittney Ezell became the eighth head coach in the 46-year history of East Tennessee State University women’s basketball on May 8, 2013.

Coach Ezell enters her seventh year as the head coach of the Buccaneer women’s basketball program. Since her arrival, Ezell has increased ticket sales revenue by 3,088%. In each of the five seasons since the Buccaneers have returned to the Southern Conference, ETSU has ranked top three in the SoCon in attendance, placing second during the 2016-17 season with 18,860 total attendees while obtaining a new school record crowd of 6,072 against Tennessee.

Ezell is a sought-after public speaker, as she has given the keynote address at IDEAcademy, CitiBank, FellowShip of Christian Athletes Fundraising Banquet, and many organizations around the ETSU campus and Tri-Cities area. She is also a member of the ETSU Standing Women’s Committee and a moderator for ETSU Dinners of Distinction.

In 2018-19, Ezell once again scheduled a competitive non-conference slate, one that ranked 29th in the country and was headlined by 2017 national champion South Carolina as well as 2019 NCAA tournament teams Michigan State and Rutgers. The high level of competition ensured the Bucs were ready for Southern Conference play, as they finished in the top half of the league standings for the fifth consecutive season, a top-three finish for the fourth time in that same span. Over the course of the 2018-19 crusade, ETSU finished second in the league in scoring (67.8 PPG), led the league in takeaways (8.7 SPG) and finished second in the league in clearing the glass (38.3 RPG).

In 2017-18, Ezell led the Bucs to a 20-13 overall record and finished second in the Southern Conference in both the regular season and postseason conference championship. The schedule featured an appearance at the Gulf Coast Showcase where the Bucs opened the tournament with 2018 national champion Notre Dame. In non-conference action, ETSU hosted Cincinnati for their home opener, along with Duquesne and Michigan State. Last season, ETSU made their first appearance in the WNIT, which marked the first appearance in a non-league postseason tournament since 2014-15. Also in 2017-18, Ezell helped the Bucs sweep Chattanooga for the first time since the 1997-98 season and guided Tianna Tarter to sign a professional contract overseas.

In 2016-17, Ezell and her staff led the Buccaneers to a 16-14 overall record and went 8-8 in conference action. During the 2016 season, the schedule featured a rigorous non-conference schedule for ETSU, which included home contests against Vanderbilt, Old Dominion and the University of Tennessee. Ezell has constructed difficult non-conference schedules since being hired in 2013, playing a total of 20 teams from power five conferences. Ezell guided Shamauria Bridges and Yamile Rodriguez to sign professional contracts overseas after the conclusion of their seasons. Also in 2016, Tianna Tarter was nominated to be an All-American under the leadership of Coach Ezell. Tarter became the 23rd Buccaneer to join the 1,000-point club.

During the 2015-16 Ezell guided the Bucs to their third straight winning season including a perfect 6-0 record at home against non-conference opponents. Ezell and the ETSU women’s basketball program captured a signature victory early in the season when the Bucs defeated Old Dominion on the road. ODU is the third winnin-gest program in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history.

In 2014-15, ETSU experienced an unbelievable turnaround under Ezell with a 16-game win progression from 2013-14 where the Bucs went 9-21. The total win im-provement was the second best in the country. The 2014-15 win total of 21 marked the first time since the 2009-10 season that ETSU reached 20 wins. Led by Ezell, the Bucs made it to the Southern Conference Tournament Championship game falling to No.1 seed Chattanooga in overtime, 61-56. ETSU appeared in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) for the third time in school history falling short to NC State, 73-59.

Prior to taking over the Bucs in Johnson City, Ezell spent three years at Belmont in which she navigated the Bruins through their final two seasons as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference (2011-2012) and inaugural season in the Ohio Valley Conference (2013).

In 2012-13, Ezell directed Belmont to an 18-14 campaign and the Bruins’ first postseason appearance since 2007 - a berth in the Women’s Basketball Invitational (WBI). Belmont took on a rigorous non-conference schedule and earned a victory at Big Ten fixture Indiana. Belmont went 11-5 in OVC play, tying for second place in the OVC East and earning the conference tournament’s No. 3 seed.

In 2011-12, Ezell directed the Bruins to 11 conference victories and a league tournament No. 3 seed in the program’s final Atlantic Sun Conference campaign. Senior Haley Nelson ranked among the NCAA leaders in double-doubles, field goal percentage, blocked shots and rebounds en route to First Team All-Atlantic Sun honors.

Ezell took the helm of the Belmont program after spending the previous two seasons as head coach at the University of Montevallo. Inheriting a Falcon program that recorded one winning season in its previous 12 years, Ezell directed Montevallo to a 14-13 record in 2009-10. The Falcons also ranked second in the Peach Belt Conference in scoring defense.

Prior to Montevallo, Ezell spent three seasons as head coach at Okaloosa-Walton Junior College (now Northwest Florida State College) in Niceville, Fla. The Lady Raiders went 57-28 under Ezell’s watch, which included an appearance in the 2006 NJCAA Regional Tournament. During her tenure, Ezell developed 14 All-Pan-handle Conference performers, 12 of whom would go on to sign national letters of intent with NCAA Division I schools. The Lady Raiders also had 12 Academic All-Conference honorees.

Ezell’s coaching career began at the University of Alabama, where she spent five years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She was credited with delivering back-to-back Top 15 ranked recruiting classes for the Tide, with four guards developing into All-SEC players.

Ezell was a four-year starting point guard for the Tide, helping lead the team to a 95-34 record and four consecutive NCAA Division I “Sweet Sixteen” appearances from 1995-98. She ranks in the Top 20 in career scoring, with 1,022 points and is second all-time in career assists (620) and games started (114). She was a Second Team All-SEC selection in 1998 and was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team in 1996. In 1998, Ezell was a candidate for the Francis Pomeroy Naismith Award, given to the top point guard in the country and was named to the inaugural WBCA/Honda All-Star Game for the nation’s top 20 players. She also was invited to the WNBA Rookie Combine in Chicago.

Additionally, Ezell became the first female two-sport athlete at Alabama in over a decade when she joined the Tide softball team. A two-time Golden Glove recipient and two-year starter at third base and shortstop, Ezell started at third base for UA’s first SEC Tournament Championship team in 1998.

Ezell earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Alabama in 1999 and a master’s degree in education administration from the University of Nebraska in 2005. She earned her Doctorate in Global Sport Leadership in May 2018. A native of Franklin, Tennessee, Ezell was a prep standout at Franklin High School. She was a three-time District MVP, tallying over 2,000 points and 600 assists in her career.
