Utilities executives are asking themselves
What value-add insights could be gained looking across customer, SCADA and smart-meter data?
What if the ‘as-built’ and ‘as-operated’ electrical models were one and the same?
What if an integrated MDM, DMS and SCADA could engage customers directly?
... And provide metrics related to the outcomes?
What would be the benefits of integrating unstructured data from outside of the firewall into my energy management system?
How could cap-ex spend be reduced but the company benefit from the latest, and most innovative solutions?
How much more efficient could operations be using open standards and when grid control strategies are deployed to the grid edge?
How could end-to-end system automation be deployed using proven integration methods and limiting customization?

Expert, agile, customer-orientated, collaborative. We bring innovation to energy
Using digital technologies: OMNETRIC Next Generation Outage Management SolutionOffering improvements to utility response to outages by integrating real-time, mined data from publically-shared sources including social media posts, news and weather information with an ADMS, and providing additional capabilities (e.g., social networking, enhanced ETR, damage/work prioritization, forecasting)
Promoting interoperability and collaboration: Distributed intelligenceWorking with Duke Energy, CPS Energy and University of Texas San Antonio, under NREL to further develop / implement a specification allowing intelligent grid components to interoperate / distribute control strategies to the edge of the grid
Generating energy insights: OMNETRIC Data Discovery for Smart GridsMaking use of almost any available data to find correlations, and provide quick answers allowing utilities to secure insights faster, and determine where to make more significant data analytics investments
Defending the grid and its users: OMNETRIC DCC Gateway (UK)Comprehensive means of complying with the DCC connection process, ensuring the right parties are connected to the meter and performing activities for which they are authorized. Also, helping meet obligations for message content, delivery methodologies and message translation

City of Public Service San Antonio (CPS) Energy
Project won in June 2015 - Announced publicly
CPS Energy is the largest municipally owned energy utility in the United States, serving more than 765,000 electric and 335,000 natural gas customers in and around San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Challenge• With the influx of sensors in the
field, and volumes of data continuing to build, CPSE was looking for a partner to help build its analytics strategy and road map allowing CPSE to create new rates for its customers and enhance the performance of its systems.
Solution• OMNETRIC Group will help CPSE
define a business case (focused on IT analytics), and an open standards-based solution architecture for CPSE’s entire analytics strategy.
• OMNETRIC Group will work with CPSE on their logical data model definition, and will perform a data discovery project.

DNO’s in the United Kingdom
1 projects won in July 2015 - 3 projects under negotiation
There are 7 electricity DNOs, 6 of which have mandated area, with a total customer base of 28.5 million consumers.
Challenge• UK Government's vision is to have
smart energy meters in every home. • The DCC is a newly created
company established with the mandate to provide communication services between smart meters and the business systems of energy suppliers, network operators and other authorized service users.
• Go-live operations of the DCC are planned for April-October, 2016. DNOs are now focused on being ready for August 1, 2016, with mandatory industry tests starting in March.
Solution• The Siemens-OMNETRIC Group
solution will make use of the core workflow, reporting and integration components of the EnergyIP platform. It also comprises the OMNETRIC DCC Gateway which will ensure compliance with DCC data access requirements, as well as helping meet obligations for message content, delivery methodologies and message translation.

Mark-E
Project from April 2014 - Announced publicly
Mark-E is a German mid-size energy service provider. Mark-E operates several own power production facilities and had already installed a virtual power plant system (VPP).
Challenge• With limited room to grow in
traditional market segments, Mark-E took the strategic decision to preempt market dynamics and expand virtual power plant capacities,
• They needed to find a provider with an end-to-end understanding of the complete energy ecosystem and access to key partners (e.g. pre-qualification with TSOs).
• They wanted to establish a partnership with a risk- and reward-sharing model.
Solution• Working together with Mark-E and
Siemens, OMNETRIC Group is delivering and operating the VPP as part of a hosted service, based on the Siemens energy management system, DEMS.
• The compensation model encompasses a service fee and a success-based reward model. OMNETRIC Group receives a portion of the VPP’s revenues.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL)
Project won in June 2015 - Announced publicly
NREL is the U.S. Department of Energy's primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development.
Challenge• Power production from renewable
resources is often variable, making it difficult to integrate into the grid.
• NREL needed integration services and industry expertise to develop a secure, interoperable platform for incorporating renewable energy sources, setting the stage for industry alignment with related standards.
Solution• OMNETRIC Group is working jointly with
CPS San Antonio, Duke Energy, Siemens, and the University of Texas San Antonio, to demonstrate an architecture and integration framework which vastly enhances the ability of the grid to host renewable resources.
• The project will demonstrate work at a CPS Energy facility, Duke Energy facility, and on-site at an NREL demonstration laboratory.
• Results will be shared with industry and standards organizations such as the SGIP and North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB), to enhance standards and guideline development to further facilitate interoperability.

Statnett
Project won in February 2015 - Announced publicly
Statnett operates 11,000 km of high-voltage power lines and 150 power stations in Norway and is responsible for the country’s power connections to Sweden, Finland, Russia, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
Challenge• By 2019, most users in Norway are
expected to have a smart meter. This will result in more than 70 million data inputs being received by Statnett’s Elhub from all Norwegian electric utilities and the smart meters they have installed. Elhub will provide Statnett with a centralized data hub for collection and processing of market information and meter data.
Solution• At Elhub’s core is the Siemens
EnergyIP 8.2 smart grid application platform. On top of EnergyIP, a new application, Market Transaction Management (MTM), will be responsible for daily settlement processes. OMNETRIC Group will support Accenture in the implementation of the solution, and Siemens in the development of the new MTM application.
“The project will provide Statnett with a foundation for smart services. It will help us obtain greater value from smart meters, improve operations and monitoring, and stabilize the supply of electricity.”Tor Heiberg, Elhub project director for Statnett
