Telephone Toll Rates

TO OUR PATRONS:

Your attention is called to the advantages and economies which may be had under our p1·esent toll rate schedule. State to the toll operator the class of service you wish, when making your call.

Station To Station Calls A station-to-station call is one in which the person calling does

not specify a particular person or department to be reached at t he station called.

Charges may be reversed.

Station-t'O-station calls combine maximum speed with minimum rates.

Person to Person Calls Orders for person to person service, are accepted only under

the condition that a limited charge (to be known as a "report charge") will be made. When the order is to establish communication with a particular person, and conversation is held, the "person to perso~" rate applies. This service requires a greater amount of operating effort, and the use of the circuit so that rate for such calls is about one-fourth greater than the "station to station" rate.

Collect Calls "Collect Calls" are the calls on which charges are revers·ed ·

that is, one to be collected from the party at the distant station, at which the call is completed.

Appointment and Messenger Calls Appointment calls are "person to person" calls the order for

which provides that communication is to be ru.~·anged to take place at a specified t ime.

Messenger calls are person to person calls, requiring the use of a messenger,. to secure attendance of a designated person at one of the pubh~ stations, at the distant point. The rate is 'the sam~ as the particular party l'ate, plus any charge for messenger service.

Report charges apply under the same general condition as specified, for "person to person" calls.

Report Charges Will be made in the following cases, when it is impossible to es

tablish communication between particular persons, and cannot be secured within one hour. A report charge appli es, (1) wh-en the called party r efuses to talk; (2) when the report is returned, and the person called is '"out, and will return at a specified time,:' or "out, and time of return unknown," or "absent from the city." This charge is to cover compensation for the operating work performed, and use of toll circuits, and is about one-fourth of the "station to station" rate.

In any case whel'e a report applies the minimum charge is fivo cents.
