Early Learning Programs for young children at WPL are based on early literacy research and include tips and information for parents and caregivers. Your active participation in these programs will maximize the experience for you and your child. Engaging in reading, rhyming, singing and movement activities together will help to build your child’s literacy skills for life.

After a light snack, the children will join our neighbours at the Stork Family Y for some engaging play while the adults remain behind for shared learning.

Number NinjasOur friends from Frontier College are here to help kids develop numeracy and math skills through play. One-on-one assistance with homework questions, math games and activities in small groups.

Kids Coding – Science Literacy Week EditionCoding programs are two-hour sessions dedicated to developing computer programming skills in Scratch, Python and Micro:bit. Goals will be set by the group and three to five projects will be assigned for each child to pick and choose from or to complete entirely. All coding levels are welcome. Let’s get coding!

Tuesday, September 186:30pm to 8:30pmRegistration opens September 11

Astro Pi with Kids Code JeunesseDuring this two-hour program, each child will complete this year’s global AstroPi project using an online RaspberryPi emulator. The projects will then be submitted to the AstroPi website and projected on the International Space Station in early 2019. We welcome ALL coding levels to take part in this event. Let’s get coding!
