Farnham Common Village Schools Working At Home Communication Year Group: 6 Week beginning: 6 th July 2020 Dear Year 6, First of all, we all would like to say a very big well done to you for all the fantastic work you have completed at home over the last 5 months. You have all risen to the challenge and we are extremely proud of the way you have continued your learning at home. For the last two weeks of term, we would like you to take the time to think back over your years at the Farnham Common Village schools. What can you remember from each year? What are your best memories? What will you miss most about the school? We would then like you to do a mini project to record your thoughts and ideas. To do this we have made some suggestions which you can choose from - maybe 2, 3 or more of the ideas that we have put in the writing task section below - or you can come up with your own way of sharing your ‘best bits’ with us. You can email your work to the home learning email address ([email protected] ) or share it on the school blog. We will be sharing some of your work on the school website and school blog so please make it your very best piece of work – it does not need to be handed in this week, so please take your time. It has been lovely to either see you in school or speak to you on the phone over the last week or so and we are very much looking forward to reading all of your ‘best bits’ from the time you have spent here with us at FCVS. Keep up the fantastic work! From all of us here in the Year 6 Team PS. We are really hoping to see you all, sometime later in the year, at our Year 6 reunion. Reading Remember to choose from your books available on Bug Club. Read the book and complete the questions online. Aim to complete two or three Bug Club books per week. If you have access to other books, please feel free to read them as well and make a note of what you have read. Spelling Orange spelling group – Please complete the Purple Mash task on possessive apostrophes with plural words. Juniper and Linden spelling groups – Please complete the Purple Mash tasks on consolidating words.

Writing Project: Please read the letter at the top of this sheet and then select 2, 3 or more of the following tasks or create a project of your own:

Idea One:

Create a timeline from when you joined our schools until today. Include all of the things that you can remember using words and pictures.

Idea Two:

Write a review (a bit like a book review) of the schools that future pupils and parents could read. This would be great to put on to our school website for future pupils and their parents to help them see what brilliant schools we have. Here’s an example to give you an idea of how you could do it:

Idea Three:

Create a poster that would encourage pupils to come to our school.

Idea Four:

Create an autobiography of your life so far giving details of all of your achievements and what you have done including your time at FCVS.

Idea Five:

Write a letter to younger students giving them advice about what to expect during their time at FCVS.

Idea Six:

Write a poem about life in year 6 or at FCVS.

Idea 7:

Complete a piece of descriptive writing about your favourite memories of FCVS.

Idea 8: Make a PowerPoint presentation celebrating all your favourite moments at FCVS.

Maths: Please complete the work set just for the group you are in. Mrs. Jordan Your maths this week will be your final arithmetic paper which you may

work on over the course of the week - you may do the questions in your home learning books. I will put the answer sheets onto the school website so that you can mark your own work, please do not bring the completed tests into school. Do as many of the questions as possible but do not worry if there are some that you cannot do, leave them and move onto the next.
