DESCRIPTION

Farnham’s rich heritage of craft dating back to the 16th century has earned the town the honour of being able to refer to itself as England’s craft town. The craft town project aims to build on the town’s creative past and present and has been made possible by Farnham Town Council securing £10,000 from the government. Farnham has several highly acclaimed art and craft venues in Farnham including the Crafts Study Centre, the University of Creative Arts, the Farnham Maltings and New Ashgate Gallery to name just a few. See the programme of events in October 2014.

Join us as the Farnham Craft Town venues come together in the month of October with a programme of exhibitions, talks and workshops to celebrate Farnham’s rich heritage of craft. There is something for everyone, many of the activities taking place during half term so there will be plenty to keep young ones amused.

There are many different ways for you to get involved, perhaps by having a go at learning a new skill in a workshop including cake decorating, screen printing, pottery or jewellery making. You can start your Christmas shopping early with a number of opportunities to buy original handmade crafts from some of our leading contemporary makers. There are also opportunities to admire the extraordinary work of leading craftspeople exhibiting in Farnham and listen to artists talk about their new work and their processes of making.

Details of all the participating venues and a map are on pages 22 and 23 of this brochure. Please do come along and take part – we look forward to meeting you.
