TRANSCRIPT
The Continuum “Area Purge” utility purges (removes) selected personnel’s access to areas in
a facility based on cardholder inactivity for these areas during a specified time period. The
“Area Purge” utility not only limits the risk of unauthorized card use, but is especially
beneficial to larger facilities where cardholder database cleanup can be extremely tedious
and time-consuming. In today’s world of heightened security concerns, many corporations are
now requiring this feature.
The “Auto Purge” utility is extremely flexible. You can select different criteria and rules for
your purges, and once configured, the system can run automatically or on an as-needed
(manual) basis. In addition, an “Area Purge Reports” application provides a variety of
reporting options and e-mailing capability.
The “Area Purge” utility uses (and requires) the Continuum “Access Event Archiver” database
as the source of access event information, along with Continuum CyberStation workstation
to perform area purgings.

Using the automatic purging feature, access privileges can be removed from cardholders who
have not used their cards in the selected areas during a specified time period; for example, in
the last six months, using pre-scheduled purge dates and/or frequencies. Using an easy-to-
use point-and-click on-screen
configuration screen, “purge
areas” can be selected
individually or in groups and
specific cardholders can be
excluded from the purge
process. A manual “Purge

protection, is also available.

The “Area Purge Reports” application provides a wide variety of reporting options. You can
produce reports on specific (or all) sites, areas, and cardholders, check the status of
scheduled purges, and preview upcoming scheduled purges. The user-friendly report
configuration screen features calendar and time controls that allow you to quickly narrow or
broaden your report time frame. Additionally, you can print or e-mail any report.

In the unlikely event that certain cardholders are purged inadvertently, an “Area UnPurge”
feature allows you to quickly and easily restore purged areas and schedules. Performing an
“UnPurge” is as easy as running a report to select the cardholder’s areas and clicking on the
“UnPurge” button.
Continuum’s Elevator Control provides convenient tools to assign precise, floor-by-floor
elevator access to your personnel. This add-on module to your Continuum system is fast and
easy to use. Configuration is simple and the template-based user interface allows you to
easily assign standard or custom elevator access rights to each employee.
In a single building, the Elevator Control module can configure up to six banks of elevators;
with each bank configured for up to eight elevator cabs, and each cab configured for up to
100 floors. The module can also support multiple elevator layouts in different buildings on a
wide-area network (WAN) from a central location; for example, to configure an extensive
elevator system across a large campus complex.
The Elevator Control module allows for precise monitoring of which floor select button was
pushed. When this option is implemented, the cardholder’s name and floor selected will
appear in any access event report, providing building administrators a complete audit trail.
An XDriver enabled on the NetController is required for this option.
The Elevator Control module is used in conjunction with a dedicated Continuum
NetController(s), plus Continuum AC-1 and AC-1Plus access control modules and DM-20 high-
density I/O modules. Each NetController can
support 20,000 cardholders. All popular card
formats are supported.

The Continuum Extended Log Archiver facilitates the automatic storage and reporting of
Continuum’s Extended Logs from the Continuum SQL database to portable database files.
These files, in turn, can be backed up easily to tape, CD-ROM, or other storage media. This
utility is especially useful in FDA-regulated industries, high-tech manufacturing, and other
critical manufacturing processes where long-term archiving of data, i.e., temperature,
humidly, pressure, air flow, etc., must be meticulously maintained and readily available for
reporting and review. The Archiver’s intuitive user screen provides exporting features that
allow for data sharing with other people, data systems, or interfaces. An Encryption option
provides the ultimate data integrity and security by preventing data from being viewed or
altered by any external application.

This handy feature keeps the size of the extended log tables (and the Continuum database)
from growing too large. The truncation application checks the archived database before
deleting data from the Continuum database so you do not run the risk of deleting data that
has not yet been archived. Selection of which groups to be truncated, plus frequency, start

information is derived from user-defined category codes entered in the alarm’s “Operator Text” field during the time of alarm
acknowledgement. Category codes begin with a “\”, followed by a number 01-99. For example:
\01 Alarm Validation or Verification
\02 Alarm Revalidation or Reverification
\03 Alarm Testing
\04 Nuisance Alarm
Alarms that do not contain category codes in the Operator Text field at the time of alarm will be grouped into the general
category, “All Other Alarms”.
Alarm categories are assigned using an easy-to-use “point-and-click” on-screen interface. Note: A keyboard macro program
can be used to assign alarm category codes with their applicable descriptions to keyboard function keys, such as F1-F12.
Two different types of reports can be run and printed:
• A standard Alarms-Categories Report sorts the alarms by category. Within each category, the alarms
are sorted by time of occurence. Also displayed is the Continuum user who acknowledged each alarm
and the “Ack” time.
• An Alarm Statistics Report displays the number of alarms per selected category along with the
percentage. Statistics report can be saved to a CSV file for easy import and graphing.

Tracking labor hours begins with designating all or only specific cardholders. Selecting them is easy — Time Tracker
provides a “QuicKey” search field for fast location of a specific name from your Continuum database, and “Filter”
buttons to narrow the listing to a particular employee number, social security number, department name or code, or
office location. When the correct cardholder names display, you can individually select some by clicking the checkbox
next to their names; or alternatively, click on the “Include All” button to select them all.
Then set up a tracking period using Time Tracker’s built-in calendar and clock controls. Select “Start Date”, “Start
Time”, “End Date”, and “End Time” by simply clicking on the date in the Time Tracker calendar and then scrolling the
time displays for the specified times. For your convenience, “Quick Pick” buttons (“Yesterday”, “Today”, etc.) are
provided that set the dates and times accordingly.
Next configure area assignments (the selection of all possible entrance and exit doors) by simply clicking with a
mouse in the “In Areas” and “Out Areas” checkboxes on the Time Tracker screen.
Once configued, all Time Tracker settings (cardholders, start and end dates/times, filters, areas, and reports) can all be
saved to settings files on your hard drive for easy recall.

accounting of each access event is required. This report is sorted by cardholder
and includes all access events, including area, card number, and site code.
• Time-In Detail Report Shows all of the matching “Access In” and “Exit Out” events. This is a key report
as it alerts you to missing or invalid information.
• Daily Report Provides a daily summary for the total “time in” for each cardholder. Additional
information, such as employee number, department, and department code are
included.
• Weekly Report Provides a weekly summary for the total “time in” for each cardholder.
• Monthly Report Provides a monthly summary to the total “time in” for each cardholder.
• Report Selection Summary Printed as the last page of every report. Lists all selection criteria used, such as
report date range, “In” areas, “Out” areas, settings file name, selection filters

SAMPLE CONTINUUM SECURITY MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM USING VIDEO MONITOR SOFTWARE
Video Monitor is a feature-rich, easy-to-use software package for your Continuum® security
management system, providing seamless alarm-to-video integration between the Continuum
CyberStation front-end and Integral Technologies Digital Video Recording (DVR) units. With
Video Monitor, link any alarm point on your network, even third-party BACnet points, to any
camera tied to an Integral DVX or DigitalSentry recording unit. Active alarms — a forced
entry alarm, a motion sensor alarm, a high temperature alarm, a fire pull station alarm —
will automatically pop up live video on the CyberStation PC. Upon alarm, the DVR’s recording
mode automatically changes from motion recording to continuous recording with pre- and
post-alarm video capturing.
View live and recorded video at the same time using Video Monitor’s dual-window screen,
and switch up to four different camera views per alarm point for quick, clear alarm
assessment. CyberStation operators located anywhere on the network can control Pan-Tilt-
Zoom (PTZ) cameras remotely and select presets with one click for a true enterprise-class
digital video surveillance system.
The Video Monitor Plus option integrates Continuum’s Personnel Editor functionality with your
Integral digital video system. Search for cardholders in the Continuum database and view
motion video clips linked with their access events, or bring up a complete history of past
motion video clips associated with access events at a specific door.

The easy-to-use Video Monitor screen pops up automatically when an alarm arrives at the Continuum CyberStation. Video Monitorclearly displays the names of both the alarm and the alarm point that triggered it. Video Monitor can also be launched at anytimemanually to review prior alarm video.
Video Monitor provides three different default viewing modes:
Live/Live Mode:Displays live video on both the left and right side of the screen. By default, the left view displays live video from the first camerawhile the right view displays the live view from the second camera. Switch to another camera view (up to four per point) by clickingon it in the “Camera Selection” window. At any time, you can stop the live view, or pause and print a video image.
Live/Recorded Mode:Displays live video from the first camera on the left and recorded/alarmed video from this same camera or from any of the threeother cameras you select on the right. In this mode, you can click in the “Alarm List” box and play several different time stampvideos of the alarm; or select a different time period from the “Time Selection” box to bring up a different set of recorded videos.
Single Live Mode:Displays a single live video on the screen. By default, this mode plays a live video from the first camera when launched. At any time, you can switch to another camera view. In addition, in Single Live Mode, you have the option of increasing the video viewing areaby 1x, 2x, or 2.5x.
Although the default view mode is Live/Live after the first installation, the user can change the default and switch back and forthbetween the three different modes using the drop-down menu. All modes are sized to allow multiple occurrences (up to three) ofVideo Monitor to run simultaneously, such as when multiple alarms occur.
A dropdown “Options” menu at the top of the Video Monitor screen allows you to specify the number of seconds to view beforeand after an alarm and to adjust the image quality and speed of video playback.
Six PTZ control buttons allow the CyberStation operator to easily position a PTZ camera across the network — pan left and right, move up and down, and zoom in and out . In addition, the operator can click on one of six PTZ preset buttons from the interface toset the preposition of the current camera. On alarm, Video Monitor can be configured to automatically call up a particular PTZpreset.
Use the handy “Unlock” button to unlock/lock any door being viewed and click on the “PE Function” button to launch a pre-programmed Plain English® custom sequence or macro for easy interfacing to third-party systems such as intercoms.

Along with Continuum alarm points, Video Monitor can also be triggered by third-party BACnet devices, in strict accordance withASHRAE standard 135-2001. For example, upon a pull station-originated fire alarm, a BACnet fire panel can trigger video to pop upimmediately on the Continuum CyberStation screen. The operator can quickly assess the situation in that area and review a recordedvideo clip of the person who pulled the alarm.
Similarly, an intrusion point from any third-party BACnet security system can trigger video on the CyberStation screen and provide quickoperator assessment of a possible security breach.
