DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTERDuring regeneration at low speed or engineidle, you may smell a hot metallic odor andcould notice a clicking metallic sound. Thisis due to the high temperatures reachedduring regeneration and is normal.

HILL START ASSISTThe system makes it easier to pull awaywhen your vehicle is on a slope without theneed to use the parking brake. When the system is active, your vehicle willremain stationary on the slope for two tothree seconds after you release the brakepedal. This allows you time to move yourfoot from the brake to the acceleratorpedal. The brakes are releasedautomatically once the engine hasdeveloped sufficient drive to prevent yourvehicle from rolling down the slope.

BRAKESEmergency Brake AssistEmergency brake assist detects when youbrake heavily by measuring the rate atwhich you press the brake pedal. It providesmaximum braking efficiency as long as youpress the pedal. Emergency brake assistcan reduce stopping distances in criticalsituations.

Anti-lock Brake SystemThis system helps you maintain steeringcontrol and vehicle stability duringemergency stops by keeping the brakesfrom locking.

CRUISE CONTROLCruise control lets you maintain a set speedwithout keeping your foot on theaccelerator pedal. You can use cruisecontrol when your vehicle speed is greaterthan 20 mph (30 km/h).

ECONOMICAL DRIVINGThe following will help to improve fuelconsumption.Check your tire pressures regularly tooptimize fuel economy.

Gear ShiftingUse the highest drivable gear appropriatefor the road conditions.

AnticipationAdjust your vehicle speed and the distanceto other vehicles without the need for heavybraking or acceleration.

Efficient SpeedHigher speeds use more fuel. Reduce yourcruising speed on open roads.

minutes to an inflation pressure ofminimum 1.8 bar (26 psi) and amaximum of 3.5 bar (51 psi). Move thecompressor switch H to position 0 andcheck the current tire pressure withpressure gauge F.

13. Remove the power plug G from thecigar lighter socket or auxiliary powerpoint.

14. Quickly unscrew the hose C from thetire valve and replace the protectivecap A. Fasten the valve cap again.

15. Leave the sealant bottle K in thebottle holder E.

As a driver assistance feature, your vehiclehas a tire pressure monitoring system. Awarning lamp will illuminate when one ormore of the tires are significantlyunder-inflated. If the low tire pressurewarning lamp illuminates, you should stopyour vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so,check the tires and inflate them to thecorrect pressure.Driving on under-inflated tires can:• Cause them to overheat.• Lead to tire failure.• Reduce fuel efficiency.• Reduce tire life.• Affect vehicle handling or stopping

ability. The system is not a substitute for correcttire maintenance. You must maintain the correct tirepressures, even if low tire pressure has notilluminated the warning lamp.

Understanding the Tire PressureMonitoring SystemThe system measures the pressure in thefour road tires and sends the tire pressurereadings to your vehicle.

The system detects this lower pressure asbeing significantly below the correctinflation pressure and the warning lampilluminates. You must inflate the tires tothe correct pressure.

If the Warning Lamp is On:1. Check each tire to verify that none are

flat.2. If one or more tires are flat, repair as

necessary.3. Check the tire pressures and inflate all

the tires to the correct pressure.4. Carry out the tire pressure monitoring

system reset procedure.

Tire Pressure Monitoring SystemReset ProcedureYou must carry out the system resetprocedure after each tire replacement oradjustment of the tire pressures.

Carrying Out the System ResetProcedure1. Check the tire pressures and inflate all

the tires to the correct pressure.2. Use the information display controls on

the steering wheel or instrument panel.

To reset the tire pressure monitoring system, scroll to:
