EverettNorthwest Washington

We’re comfortably nestled in the heart of Puget Sound and look out onto a rich landscape of

islands, ocean and mountains. And we live in an amazing city of contrasts. We’re home to the

world’s largest building, where the world’s largest jets are assembled... and some of the best

salmon and steelhead fishing in the world. Boasting the largest public marina on the West Coast

and nearly 50 miles of freshwater and saltwater shorelines... we’re also homeport to the U.S.

Navy. We’re exploding in the arts and outdoor recreation scene... yet we’re an All-America City

offering classic American fare and family fun. Just minutes north of Seattle and within easy reach

of Vancouver, B.C. - we’re a convenient distance to big city offerings and a comfortable distance

from big city stress. Experience our own distinctly Northwest blend of theaters and galleries

alongside eclectic microbreweries and minor league baseball and hockey. We’re an amazing hub

for virtually all of the activities and interests the Northwest has to offer. Enjoy hiking, kayaking,

sailing, skiing, golfing, bicycling, birdwatching, whale watching... here or nearby. A short drive out

of the city and you can be on a ferry to the San Juan Islands or crossing a snow-capped mountain

pass. Enjoy your visit... you’ll have fun here!

Jetty Island800-729-7678 www.portofeverett.comStep or paddle into a world of wildlife, sandy beaches, marsh grasses and a lagoon that is home to more than 45 bird species including osprey, shorebirds, hawks, eagles, cormorants and ducks. It’s also common to see seals surfacing in the water or lounging in the sun at the water’s edge. You might get lucky and see gray whales swimming by during their spring migration.

Snohomish River Estuary425-257-8300 www.everettwa.org/parks With over 350 species of migratory birds and dozens of mammals, fish, amphibians and reptiles, these wildlife-rich wetlands can be enjoyed by birdwatchers, boaters and hikers year-round. A paved nature trail leads from Langus Riverfront Park to Spencer Island, an intertidal 413-acre refuge. The snaking sloughs create more islands (Smith, Otter and Ebey) that can be explored by shallow draft boat or kayak. To access Langus from Everett, take northbound state highway 529 and exit at 28th Place, just north of the Snohomish River Bridge.

Narbeck Wetland Sanctuarywww.painefield.com/wetland.html This 48-acre site is a passive recreation and environmental education public park offering an interpretive boardwalk, 1.5 miles of trails, greenhouse, outdoor classroom, and has an open water habitat which attracts waterfowl. Recognized nationally for its creative approach to wetland mitigation, it now serves as a program model in wetlands creation, preservation and compensation.
