What is cloud ComputingAn environment created in user’s machine from an

on-line application stored on the cloud and run through a web browser.

Cloud computing is creating a fundamental change in computer software and its tools development, and of course in the way we store, distribute and consume information.

Cloud computing is type of computing that relies on sharing computing resources rather than having local server or personal devices to handle application.

e.g. network, servers ,storage, application and services

Infrastructure as a services(IaaS)-Network ArchitectAlso known as hardware as a service. Is a computing power that you can rent for a

limited period of time.Allows existing application to be run on cloud

suppliers hardware.Cloud providers offer computer-as physical or

more often as virtual machines-raw(block)storage , firewalls , load balancers, and network.

Infrastructure as service (IaaS)

Platform as a Services (PaaS)-Application DevelopersGives us nice APL(Application Programming

Interface) and take care of the implementation. In the PaaS model, cloud provides a computing

platform or solution stack typically including operating system, programming language execution environment, database, and web server.

Is the platform for developers to write and create their own SaaS i.e. Application.

Which means rapid development at low cost.E.g.Salesforce.com, window Azure.

Software as a Service-end UsersSaas is a software distribution model in which

application are hosted by the vendor or service provider and made available to customer.

Saas is an application that can be accessed from anywhere in the world as long as you can have an computer with an Internet Connection.

We can access this cloud hosted application without any additional hardware or software.

Saas is closely related to ASP and on demand computing software delivery models.

E.g: G-mail , yahoo mail , Hotmail etc….

TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTINGPUBLIC

PRIVATE

HYBRID

PUBLIC CLOUDOwned & managed by service

provider

Delivers select set business process, application or infrastructure on a “pay per uses” basis

Highly standardized

Limited customization option

Access from “outside” the firewall

Page 18: Fundamentals of Cloud Computing

PRIVATE CLOUD Owned & managed by the

enterprises

Limited access to enterprises & partner network

Retain high degree of control, privacy & security

Enable business to more easily customize services

Access from “inside” the firewall

Page 19: Fundamentals of Cloud Computing

HYBRID CLOUDA hybrid infrastructure takes advantage of both public & private clouds

Services provided over the internet-the public cloud

Services provided by the enterprises data center-the private cloud

Future of Cloud Computing The use of cloud computing is growing, and by 2016 this growth

will increase to become the bulk of new IT spend, according to Gartner, Inc. 2016 will be a defining year for cloud as private cloud begins to give way to hybrid cloud, and nearly half of large enterprises will have hybrid cloud deployments by the end of 2017.

Gartner describes cloud computing as a style of computing in which scalable and elastic IT-enabled capabilities are delivered “as a service” using Internet technologies

“In India, cloud services revenue is projected to have a five-year projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.2 percent from 2012 through 2017 across all segments of the cloud computing market.

Mr. Howard said that private cloud gets a lot of attention and is today the most popular form of cloud across various sectors.

Ed Anderson research director at Gartner said. “Cloud computing continues to grow at rates much higher than IT spending generally. Growth in cloud services is being driven by new IT computing scenarios being deployed using cloud models, as well as the migration of traditional IT services to cloud service alternatives.”
