This is the first in what will be a
bi-monthly insurance article written for
Grand Blanc Chamber Members. Each
article will offer helpful tips regarding
various insurance topics. This month will
focus on a coverage that has been a very
hot topic. It has made national news
headlines. In fact, there is a good chance
that you or someone you know has been
affected by this coverage, or the lack of it
known generically as Cyber Liability.
Cyber Liability coverage offers protection
against financial loss resulting from cyber
extortion, identity theft expense,
computer data breaches, and other
situations.
Insurance Tips You Can Use
When is Cyber Liability insurance
important to you? Always. Whenever
your retail business accepts credit card
payments or transmits transactions over a
high speed phone line or by on-line
electronic means. A cyber-criminal looks
for vulnerability to hack into your
software to intercept personal customers
or employee information. You may now
be required by state or federal regulations
to notify, by mail, all data base customers
within the past twelve months of the
breach. You may also be required to
provide customers with twelve months
credit monitoring services. Get in touch

Expert Business Ownership
Advice From FranNet
“
What is your best business ownership
option – buying a franchise, or starting
your own business?”
Whether you’re looking to be your own
boss, or supplement your current income,
there are many well-known advantages
that make franchising an attractive
business ownership option.
Risk mitigation is one of the biggest
advantages. While franchise businesses
have a very high rate of success, starting a
brand new business is very risky. Most
studies show that more than 90 percent
fail within three years. The primary
reason for the high failure rate among
start-up businesses is the learning curve
involved with starting a business that
doesn’t have an existing blueprint. Most
franchises have established business
models and the most effective product/
marketing mix, and trusted names.
It is prudent to buy a franchise because
the investment can be thoroughly
researched before any investments are
made. This is not the same with new
business start-ups.
As an experienced business owner/
franchisee, Linda Belford, local Franchise
Placement Consultant with
FranNet, helps individuals make
informed decisions about franchising and
business ownership. Utilizing FranNet’s
scientific assessment, she helps her
clients find the franchise opportunity that
is right for them. Her services are no
cost, no obligation. Contact her at

Ken and Don Thomas know the appliance
business. It started with their grandfather,
who started the business in 1910, and
then their father took it over bringing the
boys in. They have been serving the Flint
area for over a century. They are the
oldest family owned appliance store in
the country. Their Great Grandparents
probably sold a Maytag washing machine
to your Great Grandparents. They can
serve your family with quality products
and outstanding service like they have for
over a century. They have been in the
same location for the majority of those
years on S. Saginaw St. in
Grand Blanc. Their lines of appliances
include Amana, Electrolux, Fisher

are very involved with Boy Scouts to
this day. Every year during the Back to
the Bricks, they host a pine wood derby
event and provide hotdogs, water, and
pinewood derby car kits for over 1000
young boys. They have also served as
pack leaders for years. When you are
looking for your next appliance, think
about the Thomas boys at Thomas

Why You Should Stop Into NYNY Pizza
When everyone thinks of pizza rolls, they
think of pre-packaged frozen pizza bites.
Meghan, a frequent customer of NYNY
Pizza, thinks a little differently. NYNY
Pizza is her favorite pizza place to eat, not
only for the New York style pizza, but for
their specialty items, like pizza rolls and
garlic rolls. Meghan says that their pizza
rolls and garlic rolls are hand-made from
scratch with no preservatives and are
always made using fresh ingredients like
pepperoni, garlic, broccoli and cheese.
This makes Meghan happy, as she is
always concerned about her family’s
health. She encourages everyone to stop
by and give them a try.
