Pros

Its no one’s business! Traditional marriage? Basic rights given.

Page 4: Gay marriage

It’s no one’s business!

Two of the same sex should be allowed to marry

Same benefits of marriage as opposite sex couples.

Page 5: Gay marriage

Traditional marriage?

There is no such thing as it. Heterosexual monogamy can be

considered "unnatural” in evolutionary terms.

Page 6: Gay marriage

Basic rights given

Given access to basic rights such as: Hospital visitation during an illness Taxation and inheritance rights Access to family health coverage Protection in the event of the relationship

ending

Cons

Higher divorce rates… Procreation… Teen pregnancy

Page 8: Gay marriage

Higher divorce rates…

Marriage is already threatened with high divorce rates

40.6% of babies being born to unmarried mothers in 2008.

Would further weaken the institution.

Page 9: Gay marriage

Procreation…

Have nothing to do with procreation. Further shift to adult gratification. Can’t reproduce children

Page 10: Gay marriage

Teen pregnancy

Lead to more children being raised in same-sex house holds.

Need mother and father. At higher risk for early sexual activity. More likely to engage in homosexual

behavior.

My position

My personal view on the matter is that I’m for it.

As stated in the previous slides, everyone has basic rights.

Studies show that it would better our economy.

There is also no traditional marriage stated anywhere in history.

Rebuttals

Some people say that it is forcing others to know about gays, but I think it’s ok. How does that impact society in a bad way?

Destroys the family, but how so? The dads or moms don’t teach their child to be gay.

Some things to think about…

Are you for or against the legalization of same sex marriage?

What if you were in their shoes? How would you feel?

Would it really be so bad? Or honestly be actually good for our economy?
