Inordertoensureafastandefficientpartsexchangeinthecaseofserviceandmaintenance,theMETASYSEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLighthasamulti-modularconstruction.

1 Modul 1consistsofMETASYSEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLightair-water-separation,theplaceselectionvalveandthesuctionstreaminletconnection.

2 Modul �consistsofthedrysuctionmachine–sidechannelvacuumpump,condensateseparatorwithairby-passvalve,mountingpanelwiththeconnectionofthewateroutletandtheelectricalcontrolmodule(electricalconnec-tions,transformer,mainswitchandelectronicboard).

Whenthesuctionhoseisliftedoffthemanifold,thedrysuction machine 5.1 starts and the place selectionvalve 5.4 opens.Thesuctionflowisintroduced 5.3 totheEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLightair-water-separation.Thesolidsandliquidareseparatedintheseparationcham-berthroughtheuseofacyclone.Theairgoesthroughthecondensateseparatorto 5.2 thedrysuctionmachine.Ifthesuction-hoseisreplaced,thedrysuctionmachinestops,theplaceselectionvalveclosesandthewaterflowsoutoftheEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLightair-water-separationtothewateroutlet 5.5 Ifmorethan3,5lwaterisintroducedtotheEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLightatatime,theinsidefloatergivesacontacttotheelectronicboard 5.6 andtheplaceselectionvalveclosesfor30seconds,thewaterwillrinseoutoftheEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLightair-water-separationatthewateroutletandthatmeansthesuctionstreamisintermittent!After30secondstheplaceselectionvalveisopenedandthesuctionstreamisopened!

Installation and assembly

The installation of the METASYS EXCOM Z-ECO, Z-ECO Light must be carried out by authorised technicians only. All instructions and regulations made by the manufac-turer concerning the assembly of the system have to be followed.

9. Installation of the system:

Variations:

qThe movements of the dental staff and the patientshouldnotbehinderedbythemachineorbyitshoseandelectricconnections.Theconnectinghosefromthedentalunitshouldbeasshortaspossibleinordertopreventunnecessarypre-sedimentation.

The equipment may only be installed and operated in a dry, well ventilated and dust-free room. If there is insufficient air flow, a suction device or ventilator of the correct dimensions must be installed. The ideal ambient temperature lies between +10° C and +30° C. The motor fan ensures that the power unit is force cooled effec-tively. However, for this to happen, the air must be able to flow in and out unobstructed. If this is not the case, a separate ventilation system must be installed. The EXCOM Z-ECO, Z-ECO Light must be installed in such a way that it is easily accessi-ble for operation and maintenance and for access to the rating plate. The unit must stand on a level floor which is sufficiently robust.

The waste water must be able to flow freely, as with a back-wash the function of the central single unit suction system is not guaranteed. The waste water pipe must have a negative gradient of minimum 2%.

3 The connection to the waste water piping system must be under the waste water outlet of the EXCOM Z-ECO, Z-ECO Light.

11. Guidelines for installation:

3 Pre-filter:

Inthesuctionlineofadentalunittheremustbeapre-filterwithameshwidthofmax2mminstalled.Thecoarsefilterfittedintheoutletofthespittoonbowlshouldhaveamaximum3mmmeshwidthandmustnotberemovedwhilethecentralsuctionsystemisinoperation.

4 Hose connections:

qThewastewatermustbeabletoflowfreely,aswithaback-washthefunctionofthecentralsingleunitsuctionsystemisnotguaranteed.

qTherinsingprocessofthespittoonbowlshouldbelimitedbymeansofatimeroraspecialbuttontoamaximumof30secondsatamaximumwaterflowrateof3litres/minuteinordertofacilitatearinseoutofthewastewater.

qTheconnectionsfromthepipestothecentralsuctionsystemEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLightmustbewithflex-iblehosesandmustbeasshortaspossible.Toreducethelossofsuctionflowpowerit isrecommendedtousepipeswitha25to40mmdiameterandtoavoid90°turns(insteaduse2x45°).

5 Werecommendthatthewaterofthespittoonbowlbedirectlyguidedintothesuctionpipeusingthespittoonvalve.ThishastheadvantagethatonlyonehoseneedstobelaidfromthedentalunittoEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLight.Theinflowvalveisrequiredtocurbsuctionnoisescomingfromthespittoonbowl.

6 Secondary air valve:

Thebuiltinairby-passvalveprotectsthesuctionmachinefromoverheatingandmaintainsuniformsuction.Therecommendedvacuumsuitablefortheunitisapprox.300l/minor160mbarmeasuredatthebigsuctiontip(canula).Thissuctionflowvol-umemustbesetaccordinglyandmonitoredbyatechniciancalibratingtheairby-passvalve.

The distance between the EXCOM Z-ECO, Z-ECO Light and the dental unit must not exceed 25 metres.

All hose connections must be secured by using hose-clips!

1.1 Due to hygienic reasons and to avoid heat build-up it is recommended to guide the air exhaust out-doors and to fit a bio-filter in the exhaust pipe. (Item No.: 40060001)

Main switch:Please ensure that the amalgam separator is switched off at least once per working day! The connection to the electric current 230 V AC must be in circuit with the dental practice main switch.

13. Electrical connections:

Cable 3 x 1.5 mm2 for power supply 230 V.Cable 2 x 0.75 mm2 for starting signal of the suction system (suction contact from the dental unit).

Annual inspection

15. The annual inspection:

qAccordingtotheManufacturesGuidelines,theunithastobetestedandcleanedatleastonceeveryyear.

qForthisthecentralsingleunitsuctionsystemEXCOMZ-ECO,Z-ECOLighthastoundergoafunctionalcheckbyauthorisedtechnicians!

Ifthesuctionsystemcontinuouslystopswhileinoperation,anddoesnotturnonautomaticallyanymore,evenwhenthesuctionhoseisliftedoff,theprobablecauseisthatthefloaterandtheswitchhavebeenshort-circuitedduetocon-tamination!

Iftheunitsucksbackfromthewastewaterdrainduetoreflux,themembraneofthenon-returnvalveispollutedordamaged.Inthiscasecleanthemembraneorifnecessaryexchangethenon-returnvalve.

Data from the annual inspection must be entered into the equipment log-book!
