    David was bornMarch 17, 1928.He loved topoint out howhe was born onSaint PatricksDay. He alwayswore a green

    pin with aJewish star. Hegrew up on LogCabin Avenue.That Saturdayhis brotherand sisterwerent there towelcome theirbaby brother

    His brother and sister werent there towelcome their baby brother because

    they were at the movieshome becausethey were atthe movies.But, when theycame home thatafternoon therehe was. He wasthe third child

    of four andall his siblingswere importantto him.

    David started his education atCuster Elementary School. Heattended this school throgh eigthgrade and graduated in January of1942. He then went on to DurfreeIntermediate for the eighth gradeonly and then he went to CentralHigh where he graduated in Januaryof 1946. David was a well roundedkid, he had many interests in andout of school. They included sports,reading, arithmatic, and girls. He alsoenjoyed all kinds of sports, especiallybaseball and football. He was thesports editor of his school newspaper

    called the CentralStudent. Not onlywas he a greatwriter, but healso read quitea bit. Did youknow that Davidread four booksa week everysummer? Inmath David wasamazing; he wasquick on his feetwhen it came tosolving problems.

    And of coursethere were girls.

    David was also in the army. During his army service he hadquite the interesting experence.

    in July o 1947 he was stationed in Minilain the Philippians. Teir his army platoonreceived orders to go to okyo, Japan inthe middle o the night. When theygot there the Japanese had built an island

    ortication in the bay. When the alarmsounded his comrades thought they wereunder attack. Everyone went to their post.However, the alarm rang again again sothey thought it was just a test so theywent back to their bunks.

    Te morning afer the men woke up to agreat surprise. Tey ound that the ship hadlanded on a sand bar and it was leaning atan angle in the middle o the bay. ug boatswere called to tow them away, but the shipwould not move. Te ship began to run outo ood. Finally they were saved and takenback to base.

    When David was discharged rom the armyhe re-enrolled at Wayne State.

    He graduated in June 1950. David wasthe only member o his amily tograduate rom college. He studiedaccounting at Wayne and eventuallybecamea a C.P.A. While he was at Waynehe became president o his raternity

    He was the only

    member ofhis family to graduate

    college

    and was electedmember o theMacKenzie Boardo Governors.Whilein his presidency,David helped to getthe approval o thebeauti ul mall onWaynes Campus.
