HistoryAround 1990 CERN and some European universities searched for an infrastructure to teach their technologies to interested students

1994, ESI, the European Scientific Institute was founded to administrate JUAS, the Joint Universities Accelerator School with its 1st edition in 1994

In 1996 a 2nd school, ESMP, the European School of Medical Physics was initiated jointly by ESI and EFOMP, directed and supervised by eminent medical doctors and physicists - being revised

In 2014 a 3rd school started up, ESIPAP, the European School in Instrumentation for Particle and Astro-particle Physics

In 2014 ESI administrated the ERASMUS Mundus Bio-Health Computing summer school and further BHC activities are actively pursuedand in autumn 2014 ESI the UJF Grenoble Master LabScience Trading week

We are quite limited in what we know, whether we address the right questions, how we express our

knowledge and why we do what we do

Education is the tool of choice to do better

Ernest HemingwayThe best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed.” --

Nobel lecture 2001 Kofi Annan and UNO:Today's real borders are not between nations, but between powerful and powerless, free and fettered, privileged and humiliated. Today, no walls can separate humanitarian or human rights crises in one part of the world from national security crises in another.Because beneath the surface of states and nations, ideas and language, lies the fate of individual human beings in need. Answering their needs will be the mission of the United Nations in the century to come.

Bertrand Russell (1950): All who are not lunatics are agreed about certain things. That it is better to be alive than dead, better to be adequately fed than starved, better to be free than a slave. Many people desire those things only for themselves and their friends; they are quite content that their enemies should suffer. These people can only be refuted by science: Humankind has become so much one family that we cannot ensure our own prosperity except by ensuring that of everyone else. If you wish to be happy yourself, you must resign yourself to seeing others also happy.
