Harlingen Parks & Recreation rents out 6 pavilions throughout our parks. The rental area is the enclosed space that includes a covered pavilion, picnic tables, a barbecue pit, lights and electricity. Restrooms are open to the public, but located close to the pavilions.

Instructor: Horacio RodriguezEveryone is always looking for ways to get fit and slim. Ninja Fit uses aspects of the Ninjutsu technique along with high intensity cardio to burn fat and build muscle. No matter if you are a man or woman, beginner or advanced, Ninja Fit will provide a workout tailored to your fitness level and goals.Wear workout clothes and don’t forget your water jugs.

Instructor: Jose OlivarezKung Fu translates to “hard work”. Kung Fu is more of a fast pace external martial art. When training Kung Fu, the practitioner will gain strength, speed, agility, and earn hard work, self defense, and honor.

Tai Chi is known for its slow moving attributes, but little do people know that if done correctly Tai Chi is a great work out as well as a self defense system. Instructor: Oneida TrevinoLet’s Create and Explore! Engage your child in creative and explorative forms of artwork. Students will experiment with different media, such as pencil, watercolor, India Ink, tempera paint, low-fire earthenware clay, and other media. All media experimentation will incorporate techniques such as painting, printmaking, ceramics and pottery making, and others. Students will have several opportunities throughout the school year to compete in local and National Art Competitions. Students that attend a full season will have an additional opportunity to participate in an Annual Art Exhibit.

This fun class includes learning very basic foot-work to medium and advanced dance steps in both Polka and Cumbia beats. If you can walk, then you are halfway there. No partner required, but recommended.

Not quite Tennis, not quite Ping-pong; Pickleball takes attributes from both games and combines them into a fast-paced, low impact game suitable for all ages. Whether you are a beginner or been playing forever, you will find people to play at your skill level. Lessons are available. So come by and “Let’s Play!” .

Courts are indoors with air conditioning. Free paddles for beginners.

It is held on “A” Street between Monroe and Jackson, from 3 - 4:30 p.m. The Farmers Market features fresh produce from local growers, baked goods, fresh eggs, herbs, and more. Jackson Street Market DaysEnjoy an old-fashioned, open-air festival with antiques, crafts, live music, food vendors, and more. Market Days is held the first Saturday of every month, year-round, on historic Jackson Street in Downtown Harlingen, between 4th Street and Commerce. Harlingen Art NightHarlingen Art Night is every last Friday of the month in DowntownHarlingen, beginning at 6 p.m. Various art studios, galleries, shops, and restaurants stay open late, with special displays of original art, music, re-freshments, shopping, and more. Downtown Harlingen Walking ToursTake a trip back in time on a free Downtown Harlingen walking tour. Guided tours depart from J&B’s Café, 204 E. Jackson, at 9 a.m. on most Saturdays, from November 12, 2016 through March 25, 2017. (No tours on the first Saturday of the month, which is Jackson Street Market Days.) The tour last about 90 minutes and include information on historic buildings, downtown businesses, murals, and more. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable walking shoes, and come prepared to have fun! Group tours also may be scheduled by appointment. 2nd Annual Run with the Heroes RGV 5K Walk/RunSaturday, September 30th, 2017 time to be determined RUN with the HEROES RGV 2016 will take you from the beautiful & historic Jackson Street of Harlingen’s Downtown to the City Lake. 30th Annual Arroyo Holiday LightingThursday, November 30th, 2017 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.at McKelvey Park, 1325 South 77/Sunshine Strip, Harlingen, TX FREE ADMISSION AND PARKINGThe Arroyo Holiday Lighting features performances by local groups with a selection of holiday music and a special appearance by Santa Claus. Annual RGV Jaycees’ Christmas ParadeCome celebrate the holidays in Downtown Harlingen! The parade, on Friday, December 1st, 2017, begins at 7 p.m. and proceeds down Jackson from 4th to “E” Street.
