Hello Class 1 children and parents.

Last week we continued to telephone our families. Again it was lovely to speak with more of you and

hear about all of the fabulous home learning and other activities you’ve been doing. As well as

working in school Mrs Williams has continued to collect donations of food gifts for the West Midlands

Ambulance Service, delivering ‘grab and go’ food items for the Paramedics at Erdington and Lichfield

Hubs. Mrs Browne has also been improving her well-being by tak-

ing her daily walks with her lovely dogs Willow, Skye and Beau.

The children in school enjoyed a range of VE day celebratory activities on Friday. Everyone in school

observed a minute silence at 11.00 o’clock and we had a live stream of televised events during the day,

including a cockney sing-along. The children created some lovely red, white and blue decorations and

made cardboard spitfires for a display in the foyer.

Tuesday 12th May 2020: Would you like to keep a one-day diary for Mass Observation?

In 2020 the Mass Observation Archive will be repeating its annual call for day diaries, capturing the everyday lives of people

across the UK. The written diaries will be stored in the Archive at The Keep and be used by a wide range of people for research,

teaching and learning. This is the 10th Anniversary of the 12th May Diary project. In 1937 Mass Observation called for people

from all parts of the UK to record everything they did from when they woke up in the morning to when they went to sleep at

night on 12th May. This was the day of George VI’s Coronation. The resulting diaries provide a wonderful glimpse into the eve-

ryday lives of people across Britain and have become an invaluable resource for those researching countless aspects of the era.

Currently, the UK is in lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you would like to help to document it, please tell your

family and friends and visit http://www.massobs.org.uk/write-for-us/12th-may

Garden Yoga

How about trying some garden yoga?

Focussing on breathing slowly and holding these poses can help you to feel calm and relaxed. It will help to stretch and strengthen your body, as well as improve your coordination and balance.

Email your photos to us.

Physical Health

During this period, it has been a goal of mine to try to occupy the bodies and the minds of the children. Yoga has been an

important tool in the morning to try to keep children relaxed and keep their mind fresh for the day. While it is sunny, it could

be a good idea to try to do this outside to clear your mind of any stress during this time. This can be done alone but I feel this

could be beneficial to do this as a family. We have been keeping physically fit by doing the Joe Wickes workouts most days

however, I understand this is not for everyone so I have provided some Premier packs and some other links to keep you active

throughout this time.

Postcard Pen Pals

Are you missing your friends? Would you like to tell your friends what you have

been doing and find out what they’ve been up to?

Then here’s what you can do;

We will be providing you with a postcard that you can send to a friend of your

choice. The postcards will be situated in a box outside school for you to pick up

from Monday. If you know where your friend lives then you can post it with a par-

ent but don’t worry if you’re not sure of their address as you can pop it back in

the box and we will contact them for you.

Don’t forget to tell them about all the fun things you’ve been doing with your fam-

ily and draw a picture on the front too. Please note that the box for St. Andrew’s

will be outside school on a Wednesday afternoon between 2pm-4pm.

Don’t forget to keep your social distancing going if it is bit crowded when you

come to school.

We look forward to you sharing your postcards with us.
