Health and Safety CoursesThe Health, Safety and Environment Department at Aberystwyth University can provide a variety of training courses for your business. Courses are delivered by our experienced health and safety training practitioners, and a programme can be tailored to meet your business needs. Courses are delivered regularly at Aberystwyth University or courses can be delivered onsite at your premises.

Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) training courses

IOSH is considered one of the market leaders for health and safety training, with its courses internationally recognised and accepted. Everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must work safely, and these courses offer exactly that.

IOSH Managing Safely is a four day course for managers and supervisors, which focuses on the practical actions needed to manage health and safety in their teams. The course will demonstrate how health and safety considerations are an essential part of a management or supervisory role.

The areas which will be considered include:

• Introducing Managing Safely;

• Assessing Risks;

• Controlling Risks;

• Understanding Your Responsibilities;

• Identifying Hazards;

• Investigating Accidents and Incidents;

• Measuring Performance;

• Protecting Our Environment.

IOSH Working Safely is a one-day course which provides a grounding in health and safety for people at any level, and any sector. It focuses on best practice, and asks individuals to consider the importance of health and safety in the workplace, alongside how individuals can make a difference to health and safety through their behaviours.

Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) training courses

The CIEH is considered one of the leading vocational health and safety training qualification providers. Its courses are widely recognised owing to the strong focus of its accredited training towards occupational health and safety.

Qualifications offered meet the demands for various skill levels and awareness of health and safety issues within organisations.

Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace

This half-day course is intended to raise delegates’ awareness of key health and safety issues and individual roles in ensuring their and others’ safety in the workplace. The Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace provides a starting point from which more detailed health and safety or job-specific training can follow. Upon completion, delegates will understand the importance of health and safety in the workplace, identify the hazards and risks associated with the workplace, and understand workplace health and safety procedures.

Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the workplace

This one-day course provides delegates with an awareness of their own, customers’, contractors’ and the public’s safety in the workplace. Following completion, delegates will gain an understanding of the principles of health and safety and accident prevention, the ability to contribute to a health and safety management system, an understanding of the responsibilities placed on employers and employees, and an understanding of the hazards, risks and main causes of harm to workers.

Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling

This half-day course introduces attendees to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling assessment. Following completion, delegates will be better able to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks in the workplace.

The course is suitable for any individuals who undertake manual handling at work, such as employees who handle materials, boxes, mail and packages, in both industrial or office settings.

Level 2 Award in Principles of Risk Assessment

This six hour course is intended to improve the workplace culture for occupational health and safety by ensuring delegates understand the basic principles and concepts of risk assessment. Following completion, delegates will be able to contribute to the maintenance of a safe work environment and to the process of formal risk assessment, understand the legal requirements for risk assessment, and understand the principles of risk assessment.

This course is intended for all types of workers, as although not all employees will be expected to undertake risk assessments themselves, they may be asked to contribute to the process and will be expected to work with consideration for their own and others’ health and safety.

Level 3 Award in Risk Assessment principle and practice

This three-day course provides a thorough understanding of the main categories of accidents and ill health, their socio-economic costs, and the benefits of good health and safety management. Upon completion, delegates will be equipped with the knowledge to conduct risk assessments, organise and implement a risk assessment programme, participate in the identification of specific training needs for the activities being assessed, and assist employers in meeting legal requirements and promote improved standards of health and safety within their organisation.

This course is intended for individuals who have a responsibility for conducting risk assessments within their organisation, and may include but may not be limited to roles such as team leaders, supervisors, managers, quality controllers, technicians, and health and safety specialists.

Cyrsiau Iechyd a DiogelwchGall yr Adran Iechyd a Diogelwch a’r Amgylchedd ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth ddarparu amrywiaeth o gyrsiau hyfforddi ar gyfer eich busnes. Cyrsiau hyfforddi (IOSH) Y Sefydliad Iechyd a Diogelwch Galwedigaethol

Mae IOSH yn cael ei ystyried yn flaenllaw yn y maes am hyfforddiant iechyd a diogelwch, ac mae’r cyrsiau yn cael eu cydnabod a’u derbyn yn rhyngwladol. Dylai pawb mewn gwaith gael dealltwriaeth pam y dylent weithio’n ddiogel, a dyma’n union y mae’r cyrsiau hyn yn ei gynnig.

Mae IOSH Rheoli’n Ddiogel yn gwrs pedwar diwrnod i reolwyr a goruchwylwyr sy’n rhoi’r ffocws ar y camau ymarferol sydd eu hangen i reoli iechyd a diogelwch yn eu timau. Bydd y cwrs yn dangos sut mae ystyriaethau iechyd a diogelwch yn rhan hanfodol o reoli neu rôl oruchwyliol.

Mae’r meysydd a fydd yn cael eu hystyried yn cynnwys:

Mae IOSH Gweithio’n Ddiogel yn gwrs undydd sy’n darparu sylfaen mewn iechyd a diogelwch i bobl ar unrhyw lefel, ac unrhyw sector. Mae’n canolbwyntio ar arferion gorau, ac yn gofyn i unigolion i ystyried pwysigrwydd iechyd a diogelwch yn y gweithle, ochr yn ochr â sut y gall unigolion wneud gwahaniaeth i iechyd a diogelwch drwy eu hymddygiad.

Cyrsiau Hyfforddi Sefydliad Siartredig Iechyd yr Amgylchedd (CIEH)

Mae’r CIEH yn cael ei ystyried yn un o arweinwyr darparwyr cymhwyster hyfforddiant iechyd a diogelwch galwedigaethol. Mae ei cyrsiau yn cael eu cydnabod yn eang oherwydd y ffocws cryf yn eu hyfforddiant achrededig tuag at iechyd a diogelwch galwedigaethol.

Mae’r Cymwysterau a gynigir yn ateb y galw am lefelau sgiliau gwahanol ac ymwybyddiaeth o faterion iechyd a diogelwch o fewn sefydliadau.

Gwobr Lefel 1 mewn Iechyd a Diogelwch yn y gweithle

Bwriad y cwrs hanner diwrnod yw codi ymwybyddiaeth o faterion iechyd a diogelwch allweddol a rolau unigol wrth sicrhau eu diogelwch eu hunain ac eraill yn y gweithle. Mae Gwobr Lefel 1 mewn Iechyd a Diogelwch yn y Gweithle yn darparu man cychwyn y gall iechyd a diogelwch mwy manwl neu hyfforddiant swydd-benodol ei ddilyn. Ar ôl cwblhau’r cwrs, bydd mynychwyr yn deall pwysigrwydd iechyd a diogelwch yn y gweithle, yn adnabod y peryglon a’r risgiau sy’n gysylltiedig â’r gweithle, ac yn deall gweithdrefnau iechyd a diogelwch yn y gweithle.

Gwobr Lefel 2 mewn Iechyd a Diogelwch yn y gweithle

Mae’r cwrs undydd yma’n rhoi ymwybyddiaeth o’u hiechyd a’u diogelwch eu hunain, a’u cwsmeriaid, contractwyr a’r cyhoedd yn y gweithle. Ar ôl ei gwblhau, bydd y cynrychiolwyr yn ennill dealltwriaeth o egwyddorion iechyd a diogelwch ac atal damweiniau, gallu cyfrannu at system rheoli iechyd a diogelwch, yn deall y cyfrifoldebau a osodir ar gyflogwyr a gweithwyr, a dealltwriaeth o’r peryglon, risgiau a phrif achosion niwed i weithwyr.

Gwobr Lefel 2 mewn Egwyddorion Gwaith Corfforol

Mae’r cwrs hanner diwrnod yn cyflwyno mynychwyr at y peryglon a’r risgiau sy’n gysylltiedig â gwaith corfforol ac yn amlinellu beth i’w ddisgwyl gan asesiad trafod â llaw. Ar ôl ei gwblhau, bydd cynrychiolwyr yn gallu cyfrannu at y gwaith o ddatblygu gwell ffyrdd a thasgau o drafod â llaw yn y gweithle yn fwy diogel.

Mae’r cwrs yn addas ar gyfer unrhyw unigolyn sy’n ymgymryd â thrafod â llaw yn y gwaith, megis gweithiwyr sy’n trin deunyddiau, blychau, post a phecynnau, mewn lleoliadau diwydiannol neu swyddfa.

Gwobr Lefel 2 mewn Egwyddorion Asesu Risg

Bwriad y cwrs chwe awr yw gwella diwylliant y gweithle ar gyfer iechyd a diogelwch galwedigaethol drwy sicrhau bod mynychwyr yn deall yr egwyddorion a’r cysyniadau asesu risg sylfaenol. Ar ôl ei gwblhau, bydd mynychwyr yn gallu cyfrannu at gynnal amgylchedd gwaith diogel ac at y broses o asesu risg ffurfiol, yn deall y gofynion cyfreithiol ar gyfer asesu risg, ac yn deall egwyddorion asesu risg.

Bwriedir y cwrs yma i fod o fudd i bob gweithwyr, oherwydd, er na fydd disgwyl i bawb gynnal asesiadau risg eu hunain, efallai y gofynnir iddynt gyfrannu at y broses, a bydd disgwyl iddynt weithio gydag ystyriaeth at iechyd a’u diogelwch eu hunain ac eraill.

Gobr Lefel 3 mewn Egwyddor ac Arferion Asesu Risg

Mae’r cwrs tri diwrnod yn rhoi dealltwriaeth trylwyr o’r prif gategorïau o ddamweiniau a salwch, eu costau economaidd-gymdeithasol, a manteision rheolaeth iechyd a diogelwch da. Ar ôl ei gwblhau, bydd mynychwyr yn meddu ar y wybodaeth i gynnal asesiadau risg, trefnu a gweithredu rhaglen asesu risg, cymryd rhan yn nodi anghenion hyfforddi penodol ar gyfer y gweithgareddau sy’n cael eu hasesu, a chynorthwyo cyflogwyr wrth fodloni gofynion cyfreithiol a hyrwyddo gwell safonau iechyd a diogelwch o fewn eu sefydliad.

Bwriedir y cwrs hwn ar gyfer unigolion sydd â chyfrifoldeb am gynnal asesiadau risg o fewn eu sefydliad, a gall gynnwys, ond heb fod yn gyfyngedig i, rolau o’r fath fel arweinwyr tîm, goruchwylwyr, rheolwyr, rheolwyr ansawdd, technegwyr, ac arbenigwyr iechyd a diogelwch.
