Overview

School begins on Tuesday, Aug. 10th

This is a full day, and an A Day

We are back on the A/B schedule, no more 4x4 (see attached bell schedule)

Regular operating times (7:05am to 2:05pm)

Per State mandate there is no hybrid options for any public schools in Tennessee this year. Schools are either all “in-person” or all “virtual”

This does not preclude a teacher from using virtual resources, especially to support an absent child. Just no virtual attendance option for Hillsboro

Schoology still our interface platform

All MNPS students receive free meals this year

First Day Logistics

Doors open at 6:45am each day

Breakfast available in the cafeteria until 7:00am

Students will head to their “alpha homeroom” – posters throughout building

with ranges of last names. Find the range your last name falls in, go to that

room. No PLT on first day

98% or more will have schedules. Only late enrollees won’t have a schedule.

We will send them to counselors

Follow your schedule as is. Will share process for schedule adjustments

beginning on Thursday

Some students may have a hole in their schedule—report to Library for that

period only

Recommend take a picture or make copy of schedule in case you lose it

Should be able to see schedule in Infinite Campus after Tuesday

Staffing

We are pleased to announce that we have made hires for all of our teaching

positions to start the year (despite national and regional shortages)

We have a few who will not have cleared background by the first day, and a

couple more who are in the process of relocating to Nashville

Chemistry/Physical Science: Jennifer Bryant—we expect that she should be in the

classroom by the second week.

Freshmen Seminar: Josiah Levensailor—we expect that he should be in the

classroom by the second week.

Spanish: Ginger DeMartinez—will be with us after Labor Day

We will have subs in these classes, they will be using a combination of lesson

plans created by other staff and on-line learning platforms. Current staff in

the respective departments will assist with grading, etc.

COVID Precautions

The single best precaution that everyone can take to safeguard against

contracting and/or spreading COVID is to get vaccinated

Safe, Effective, Accessible, and Free

This is largely a pandemic of the unvaccinated

Recent mask mandate by the district

Emphasize wearing masks correctly

Continuing the following

Hand sanitizing stations

Spacing as allowable, avoiding large gatherings when possible

Wiping down classrooms

Contact-tracing (School nurses—no more Meharry partnership)

Note: if you are vaccinated, suggest that you have a digital copy of your vaccination card

on your phone or accessible. If traced, you can avoid quarantine if symptom-free by

demonstrating evidence of vaccination

Frequently Asked Questions

What about Sports or Extra-Curriculars?

We have not received any information about restrictions. Full attendance is expected for events. We hope and expect full seasons

We will have be “cashless” for ticketing this year—Go Fan

Livestreaming available

What if my child contracts COVID or gets contact traced?

If symptomatic, must quarantine according to CDC/District guidelines

If not symptomatic, must still quarantine unless proof of vaccination

If quarantine, counted as Excused Absent—can still do work, but no remote option

When will students get ID’s for bus passes?

These usually come after Labor Day. Can use ID from last year if still have it (even if from other MNPS school).

In an emergency, can show copy of schedule showing you are enrolled at HHS
