Putney High School is part of the Girls’ Day School Trust, a charitable trust and leading group of independent girls’ schools, with over 4000 staff

and 20,000 students in 23 schools. As part of the GDST network, schools benefit from central fees collection, as well as HR, procurement, IT and

legal advice. There is also a large central estates department supporting and advising schools on building projects and maintenance. Members of

The ICT Department The ICT team consists of the ICT Operations Manager and three ICT Technicians. Members of the ICT team work independently and manage their own tasks

through the service desk, however, collaboration, knowledge sharing and discussion is a key part to this role. The team is based in the ICT Office.

There is a high demand on ICT support and service requests and it continues to grow as new as ICT initiatives come online. Paramount to the role is an un-

derstanding that we are here to support teaching and learning through the provision of ICT services and support, The role will involve face to face and written

communication with both staff and students across the school and therefore good English is essential. The main role of the ICT technician is to act as the first

point of contact for all requests which include all prioritisation and provide initial troubleshooting across all aspects of ICT related services.

The school consists of approximately 1200 users and over 500 computers and a 1000 iPads. The computers run on Windows 10 and Office 2016. We have 6

physical servers. Enterprise Wi-Fi is provided throughout the school. As part of the Girls’ Day School Trust we are supported by the Central ICT Team based at

the Trust offices in London. They provide central services such as internet, WAN connection, WiFi provision, Voice Over IP, remote access and technical sup-

port relating to these services.

Role

Job Role ICT Operations Manager

Responsible to: Director of IT and Digital Learning

Job purpose: To be responsible for the management,

installation, maintenance, availability

and integrity of the Schools ICT

infrastructure.

Manage a team of Technical staff

Ensure the ICT systems are maintained

in line with the schools requirements

Grade: Support Staff Grade 4 / 5

depending on experience

Salary: Grade 4: £27,072 - £36,453

Grade 5: £35,193 - £41,691

Hours: 36 hours per week

Holiday: 30 days plus 8 Bank Holiday to be taken

during school holidays

Job Specification Accountable for:

The support of Schools ICT Systems

Ensuring deadlines are met and delivering to the quality defined by the school

Leading and managing Technical staff

Delegated budget management as defined by the school

Key Responsibilties:

To act as the technical authority on the school’s ICT infrastructure

Support and train staff in their use of ICT Systems in conjunction with the Director of IT and Digital Learning

Ensure ICT systems are able to support Teaching, Learning and the Administration of the school

To conduct presentations and compile reports

Ensure all ICT schools systems are fully documented

General Management:

To be responsible for the management of all ICT systems within the school

Manage and maintain the backup of the schools electronic data

Performance management of Technical staff

Manage the reliability, performance and availability of the schools ICT infrastructure

Manage the implementation of new ICT systems and where appropriate work with the Trust Central ICT team in implementing new systems

Manage and maintain the schools communication systems

Management of the Network:

Ensure the school is compliant with the ICT licence requirements

Ensure the schools ICT systems are protected from security vulnerabilities and processes are in place to manage local and central ICT policy

To work with the Trust Central ICT team in managing issues escalated to the central ICT team

Work with 3rd party supplies in the resolution of ICT faults or the installation of new ICT systems

In conjunction with the Trust ICT Security and Compliance Manager develop robust disaster recover platforms and procedures and perform periodic Disaster

Recovery (DR) testing

Develop hardware and software solutions to meet the needs of the school, but which do not compromise the ICT systems and/or security of other schools or

Trust Office

Be responsible for a regular maintenance programme and ensure the resolution of failures in hardware and software

Ensure appropriate “housekeeping” tasks are implemented
