The ifm multicode reader detectsnumerous 2D and 1D codes.The standardised 2D code can beapplied in different ways: printed onpaper, engraved by laser or dot-peened onto a metal surface.

Production control for solar modulesof the company Conergy AG:the decision in favour of the multi-code reader was taken due to its highreading rate. The compact dimensionsand the integrated lighting ensureinstallation requiring only little space.

The requirementsof harsh indu-strial environ-ments are met bya stable metalhousing, a widetemperaturerange and thehigh protectionrating IP 67.

The new RFIDevaluation unitDTE100 has fourantenna connec-tions, which canalternatively beused as digitalI/Os. The anten-nas are connectedvia standardisedM 12 connectors.

The standard pinassignment of theI/O connectionsensures that

common sensorsor actuators aredirectly connec-ted and poweredfrom the RFIDevalu-ation unit.

LF and HFtransponder.

Efficient control of processes with RFID.

The DTE100 RFID system can beoperated with different antennas with125 KHz (LF) or 13.56 MHz (HF).

Inductive RFIDtechnology

The RFID system(Radio FrequencyIDentification)from ifm elec-tron-ic generatesan electromagne-tic field for rea-ding and writingof data.The electro-magnetic fieldemitted by theantenna inducesvoltage in thepassive ID tag(transformerprinciple).

This activates theID tag (transpon-der) which re-turns its code.Process-ing ofthe code andtransmission e.g.to the AS-Inter-face are carriedout in the read /write head.Advantage: reli-able data trans-mission indynamic readingprocesses Depen-ding onapplication,range, data volu-mes, and read /write dis-tancesdifferent
