He responds with two stories about putting faith into action—the surest way to increase one’s faith. The story of “faith the size of a mustard seed” (Luke 17:6) shows that even a tiny bit of faith can work wonders when it is put into action. The story of the faithful servants who did “what [they] were obliged to do” (Luke 17:10) reminds us that putting the gift of faith into action is essential to the vocation of discipleship. In the reading from the second letter to Timothy we are encouraged to “stir into flame the gift of God . . . with the help of the Holy Spirit that dwells within us” (2 Timothy 1:6, 14). Those who put their faith into action will be like “the just one” in today’s reading from Habakkuk, who, “because of his faith, shall live” (Habakkuk 2:4). © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co. Prayer for Priestly Vocations Father, in every generation you

provide ministers of Christ and the Church. We come before you now,

asking that you call forth more men to serve our Archdiocese in

the ministerial priesthood. Give us priests who will lead and guide your holy people gathered by

Word and Sacrament. Bless us with priestly vocations so that we

your Only Son. Raise up, we pray, men who are generous in

If you are interested in sponsoring a student, money or water bottle

donations or just need more info., please feel free to contact Mariela

or Melissa at 323.660.0034 Is Safety Training Effective for Kids?

Did you know that national and international studies show that children who

participated in prevention education programs like VIRTUS, were six to seven

times more likely to demonstrate protective behavior – to be more

assertive, speak up, and disclose abuse or suspected abuse – than children who

had not participated in such programs? Research supports the effectiveness

of abuse prevention training of our children.

For more information about what our parish and school are doing to teach children to be safe, please contact the parish office or the

Archdiocesan Safeguard the Children Office: 213 637 7227. For
