PRESIDENT’S COMMENT
It is now wind up time for the year 2012.
It has been busy but also a lot of fun for my first 6months as President of the Rotary Club of Beaumaris. Iwould like to thank all the members for the contributionthey have made during the year, and for all the help
and support given me.
Our Christmas party was a wonderful way to wind up theyear – lots of fun and merriment had by all, and as usualwe were very well looked after by Louise and the VGCteam!
We welcomed back Kerrie from Malaysia as the DistrictGSE team leader, who appeared to be very happy tobe back at Beaumaris – good to have you back Kerrie.
It was a pleasure to have our AG Wil and his wife Suejoin us, as well as Mary’s Mum Anne. And we had a
great turnout of partners – too many to mention!
A few words of thanks are in order – Fred for organisingSuzy the Singer, another Suzy (first lady), the mastermindof the decorations and baker of the shortbreads, Roy asSanta, and his lovely helpers, Megan and Charmaine,Heather who was a big help to Sue with the decoratingand handing out the raffle prizes, Greg who helped withthe planning of the event, attendance and also photogra-pher (along with Megan), Sergeant Tony who did a
great job as usual, David G who led the singing and whowas treasurer for the night, James and Megan who wereon the cash desk, all the others who helped and contribut-ed, and of course all the members, partners and guests

who came along and made the night such a success.
Best hat awards went to Pat Seager for the ladieswith the “angelic look” and Ross Phillips for the men -it was the combination with the flashing tie that didit!
Our special raffle was a resounding success, thankyou to all those who contributed the prizes (17 intotal). Also thank to everyone who purchase the tick-ets. We raised a total of $310, which has been sentto Peter Gray in Cambodia to provide a Christmastreat for the kids under his care at CCASVA. Agreat effort and thank you everyone for your sup-port.
Going into 2013, we will kick the year off with 9
holes of golf followed by a BBQ at VGC on 16 Jan-uary.
February is an interesting month, with the district GSEwelcome home dinner on Wed 6 Feb at Mulgrave (inlieu of our regular meeting), a cluster New Gen din-ner on Tue 12 Feb, either at VGC or The Beaumaris(again in lieu of our regular meeting). RCOB havebeen asked to host this event. On 21 Feb Hunting-dale Rotary Club will be joining us for our regularmeeting at VGC.
So that’s it for 2012, have a wonderful Christmaseverybody, and a joyful festive season

Beaumaris 'Skate Jam'
Beaumaris Rotary Club helped out at the BaysideYouth Services 'Skate Jam' at Donald McDonald re-
serve in Beaumaris. This free event, aimed at 10 -25 year olds provided music, skating, refreshments
and giveaways, and was enjoyed by all. Gettingyoung people to be involved and active in communi-ty events is an effective way of promoting good
mental health and it was great to see the older skat-ers helping and encouraging the younger ones. Ourmembers cooked up a heap of sausages and helpedgive out refreshments and giveaways/prizes (thanksto our friends at MIND).
