Event Sponsorship Program - Outcomes from 25 November 2016 (D16/72147) Council’s Event Sponsorship Program aims to attract events to the City and can provide both financial and/or in-kind support to applicants. The program is open for application all year with the evaluation panel convening within four weeks from receipt of an application. The total budget for financial year ending 2017 is $40,000. During the period of August to November 2016 Council received two applications for sponsorship and on 25 November 2016 the evaluation panel convened to assess the applications. Elected Members were invited to attend the meeting. APPLICATIONS 1 – Adelaide Festival – The Secret River Date: 28 February to 19 March 2017 Location: Anstey Hill, Tea Tree Gully Application amount: $7,500 Proposal: Adelaide Festival’s intention for the first satellite program is to allow audiences to

explore new landscapes through events. The City of Tea Tree Gully has been specifically cited, in an effort to draw new people to the area. This activity highlights the natural beauty of the Tea Tree Gully area, and will raise awareness and draw new audiences to the council area. Expected outcomes include increased visitation to the area, an increased profile of Council and increased publicity of the local area where the event will be staged. Outcome: The proposal was approved by the evaluation panel after discussions about the

intrastate, interstate and international exposure of Council following all the marketing for the event. It also complements Council’s event program that will attract an otherwise untapped demographic. 2 – TTG Croquet Club - Hammertime

Date: 17 February to 7 April 2017 Location: TTG Croquet Club, Grand Junction Road, Hope Valley Application amount: $1,300

Proposal: To introduce the game of croquet in its various forms to both males and females of all ages. To have people take up a healthy game which offers participants exercise for both body and mind and at the same time make new friends.

Outcome: The proposal was rejected by the evaluation panel after discussions that this is not

an event, but promotion of an already existing sporting club. The Event Sponsorship Program doesn’t exist to fund marketing for sporting programs and, if approved, will set a precedent for other sporting clubs to apply to this program for a similar outcome. General marketing support in the form of advice has been offered to the club. Attached are the above mentioned applications along with the minutes of the evaluation panel meeting.
