FARMAKOLOGI

Mometason Furoat adalah kortikosteroid sintetik dengan

aktivitas antiinflamasi. Seperti kortikosteroid lain,

Mometason Furoat bekerja dengan menginduk-

si protein penghambat fosfolipase A yang disebut2dengan lipokortin. Lipokortin bekerja menghambat

pelepasan asam arakidonat yang merupakan pre-

kursor dari mediator inflamasi seperti prostaglandin dan

leukotrien.

INDIKASI

Untuk meringankan manifestasi inflamasi dan pruritus

dari dermatosis yang responsif terhadap kortikosteroidseperti psoriasis dan dermatitis atopik.

KONTRA-INDIKASI

- Hipersensitivitas terhadap komponen obat ini.

- Facial rosacea, acne vulgaris   (jerawat), perioral

dermatitis, pruritus perianal dan genital, napkin

eruptions , infeksi bakteri (misal impetigo), infeksi virus

(misal herpes simpleks, herpes zoster dan chickenpox )

dan infeksi jamur (misal candida   atau dermatofit),

varisela, tuberkulosis, sifilis atau reaksi-reaksi pasca

imunisasi.

EFEK SAMPING

Rasa terbakar, atrofi kulit, rasa menyengat, iritasi, ke-keringan pada kulit, folikulitis, hipertrikosis, erupsi ak-

neiformis, hipopigmentasi, dermatitis perioral, infeksi

sekunder, stria, miliaria.

PERHATIAN

- Absorpsi sistemik dari kortikosteroid topikal dapat

menyebabkan penekanan aksis  hypothalamic-pi- 

tuitary-adrenal   (HPA) yang bersifat sementara. Bila

terjadi, kurangi frekuensi pemakaian atau ganti

dengan kortikosteroid lain yang kurang potensial.

- Bila terjadi infeksi kulit, gunakan antijamur atau an-

tibiotika yang sesuai. Bila respons yang diinginkan tidak

segera terjadi, kortikosteroid harus dihentikan sampai

infeksi teratasi dengan baik.- Jangan tutupi bagian kulit yang diobati dengan per-

ban.

- Tidak dianjurkan penggunaan pada wajah, ketiak,

atau lipatan paha kecuali atas petunjuk dokter.

- Seperti kortikosteroid lain, hentikan pengobatan se-

gera setelah ada perbaikan. Bila lebih dari 2 minggu

tidak ada perbaikan, hubungi dokter.

- Hindari kontak dengan mata.

- Tidak dianjurkan penggunaan untuk anak-anak di

bawah 2 tahun.

DOSIS

Dewasa dan anak-anak > 2 t ahun: Oleskan lapisan tipis

MEFUROSAN krim pada bagian yang sakit sekali

sehari.

Mometasone Furoate

Cream

Each gram contains:

Mometasone Furoate ................................................. 1 mg

PHARMACOLOGY 

Mometasone Furoate is a synthetic corticosteroid with

antiinflammatory activity. Like other topical cortico-

steroids, Mometasone Furoate is thought to act by the

induction of phospholipase A inhibitory proteins,2collectively called lipocortins. Lipocortins inhibit the

release of arachidonic acid, the precursor of in-

flammation mediators such as prostaglandins and

leukotrienes.

INDICATIONS

Indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruri-

tic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive derma-toses such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

- Hypersensitivity to any of the components in the

preparation.

- Facial rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis,

perianal and genital pruritus, napkin eruptions, bac-

terial (e.g. impetigo), viral (e.g. herpes simplex, herpes

zoster and chickenpox) and fungal (e.g. candida or

dermatophyte) infections, varicella, tuberculosis,

syphilis or post-vaccine reactions.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

Burning, skin atrophy, stinging, irritation, dryness, fol-liculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopig-

mentation, perioral dermatitis, secondary infection,

striae, miliaria.

PRECAUTIONS

- Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can

produce reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal

(HPA) axis suppression. If HPA axis suppression is noted,

reduce the frequency of application, or substitute a

less potent c orticosteroid.

- If skin infections are present, an appropriate anti-

fungal or antibacterial agent should be used. If a

favourable response does not occur promptly, the

corticosteroid should be discontinued until theinfection is adequately controlled.

- The treated skin area should not be bandaged.

- Use on the face, underarms or groin areas is not re-

commended unless directed by the physician.

- As with other corticosteroids, therapy should be dis-

continued when control is achieved. If no improve-

ment is seen within 2 weeks, contact the physician.

- Avoid contact with the eyes.

- Use in pediatric patients below 2 years of age is not 

recommended.

DOSAGE

Adults and children > 2 years: Apply a thin film of

MEFUROSAN   cream to the affected skin areas once

daily.
