4 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE4.1 WING SENSOR INSTALLATION

    1. Assemble the Breakaway SensorMounting Brackets (B11) as show inFigure 4and Figure 5.

Figure 4: Breakaway Sensor BracketExploded View

Figure 5: Breakaway Sensor MountingBracket Assembly

To assemble the breakaway sensor bracket:

    a) Assemble the bolt and nut into thecollar.

    b) Grease the bottom edge of thecollar and the angled tube of thebase.

    c) Place the collar onto the angled tube

of the mounting base.d) Install the spring between the collarand the upper ring of the base.

    e) Insert tube through assembly andtighten the collar

    2. Mount the sensor bracket onto theboom. Each boom should have a sensorbracket close to the tip and anothersensor bracket half way between the tipand center of the sprayer (Figure 12).

If possible, mount the sensorbrackets while the booms are in

their folded position to ensurethat they will not interfere with

anything when the boom is foldedfor transport.

Mounting the sensor bracket tothe break-away section of theboom may cause the boom to

drop suddenly as a break-awayoccurs. This will occur on break-away sections which lift as they

    break away.

    For optimal boom tip protection,

it is recommended that thesensor be mounted within

approximately two feet (60cm) ofthe boom tip.

Please refer to the UC4+ Spray HeightControl system warranty at the end ofthe UC4+ Spray Height ControlOperators Manual (M01) forimplications.

    3. Mount the NORAC UC4+ ultrasonicsensor (E02) into the sensor brackets.

  • 7/25/2019 Install Norac UC4 2009 BC+HG4-INSTh

    11/22

    8

The sensors should be oriented forward(ahead) of the boom (see Figure 6andFigure 8).

    When installing the UC4+

sensors (E02), start with thesmallest serial number on the left

hand side proceeding to thelargest serial number on the right

hand side (Figure 12). The roll

sensor should be the highestserial number.

    4. Sensor cables should run through themounting bracket tube and then behindthe member the bracket is mountedonto. Cable-tie the connector in place.

The cable must not be allowed to hangbelow the boom (Figure 6).

    Figure 6: An Acceptable Mounting

    Avoid mounting sensors in

    locations where they may read

from parts of the boom as shownin Figure 7.

Figure 7: Poor Mounting(Sensor reading off boom)

    General mounting rules for UC4+

    ultrasonic wing sensors:

    a) In its lowest position, the sensor mouthmust be 9 inches or more from theground.

    b) The bottom of the sensor must be atleast 9 inches in front of the spraynozzles.

    c) The bottom of the sensor must be atleast 9 inches above the spray nozzles.

    d) Ensure that there are no obstructionswithin a 12-inch diameter circleprojected directly below the center ofthe sensor.

    e) The sensor should be approximatelyvertical at normal operating heights.

    when the boom is rolled

    2. Aim the sensor perpendicular to theground. Tighten all the sensor bracketbolts.

    General mounting rules for ultrasonic

    main lift sensor:

    a) Mount the sensor at the midpoint of themain lift section.

    b) The sensor must have a 12-inchdiameter clear view of the groundwithout any obstructions.

    c) Ensure that there will be no contactbetween the sensor and the booms

when folding and unfolding, or raisingand lowering.

    d) The bottom of the sensor must be atleast 9 inches in front of the spraynozzles.

    e) The bottom of the sensor must be atleast 9 inches above the spray nozzles.
