“A sense of deep communion with the rest of nature cannot be real if our hearts lack tenderness, compassion and concern for our fellow human beings. It is clearly inconsistent to combat trafficking in endangered species while remaining completely indifferent to human trafficking, unconcerned about the poor, or undertaking to destroy another human being deemed unwanted. This compromises the very meaning of our struggle for the sake of the environment. — Pope Francis, Laudato Si, no. 91 © 2015 Libreria Editrice Vaticana. Used with permission.

It is open to all high school students who wish to learn about leadership and improve their already existing decision-making and problem solving skills through the teachings of the Catholic faith. To deal effectively with people is one of the most important skills a young person will acquire. It is believed that leadership can be learned and will enhance a students education and life by improving his or her interpersonal relationships. *Learn About Positive Communication *Develop Self-Motivational Skills & Learn Problem Solving

*Action Planning Techniques The ISLI program stresses a humanistic philosophy with distinctly Catholic-Christian values. Graduates become more effective and productive in their school work and in their personal lives. ISLI is supported by the Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton who has offered his vision of servant leadership in his pastoral letter, Wounded and Loved, Regathering the Scattered. The intent of our ISLI program is to gather young people from around the eleven counties of the Diocese for a faith-filled experience that enhances leadership skills and promotes learning, sharing and prayer and readies young people to be leaders in their parish communities. Through ISLI, the Diocese desires to foster servant leadership and to nurture the continued development of value based, Christian decision making. Cost is $ 175.00 for first time participants and $ 185.00 for trainees. Fee covers program materials, meals and room. A $100.00 non-refundable deposit and reservation are required by Wednesday, February 17th.
