The end of spring brings reflection on a lot of hard work here at KidsCare Therapy. In March we headed down to Houston for another great visit to the Texas Speech-Language Hearing Association Conference. I am constantly impressed by the high quality of therapists in Texas that congregate at TSHA each year, and this year proved to be no different. We enjoyed the opportunity to continue to stay in touch with the therapist community, as well as meet hundreds of new graduates. This year’s conference was a great success for us, and we look forward to having some of our booth visitors join the KCT team! During April we celebrated National Autism Awareness Month. This is a special time of year for so many of our patients and their families as we raise support and awareness for Autism. Making certain the early signs of this disability are recognizable is important to ensuring early intervention so that each autistic child will continue to thrive and live as normal of a life as possible. April was also National Occupational Therapy Month. We are so proud of all of the wonderful occupational therapists we have on staff at KidsCare Therapy! Their discipline and dedication to their patients make it a pleasure to work with each one of them. In May we celebrated Better Speech and Hearing Month. This was just another opportunity to thank our wonderful speech- language pathologists for all of their hard work, and recognize the great impact they make in so many lives in the DFW area on a daily basis. In addition, May was the host to National Nurses Week, where we recognized the four wonderful nurses we have on staff for all of their dedication and the knowledge they bring to the team. Thank you so much to all of these wonderful staff members who make working at KidsCare Therapy so rewarding! There has been hard work over the past few months from both employees and patients fighting legislative efforts directed at removing funding for patients care. While the end of spring does not bring closure to this battle – we have exciting news that cuts for funding to the services we provide for our patient’s care should be minimal, if at all. At KidsCare Therapy we feel that this is a strong testament that our voice can be heard by our legislators, and that we can all truly make a difference in shaping the future for our children. While the battle for healthcare of Texas children will continue, the future looks bright for this victory. Thank you so much to everyone who shared in the efforts – our hard work is paying off. Please continue to send your legislators letters to support the use of the rainy day funds to solve our current budget crisis. Using this extra funding can help to ensure that education and healthcare for Texas children is not jeopardized. If you are interested in how you can get involved or additional information, please contact David Reimer, Director of Business Development, at [email protected] or (214) 575-2999.
