From the President of the Board of Trustees The mission of the Kirkland Town Library is to provide our community with “access to materials and informational services to support literacy, intellectual, recreational and cultural interests.” The Board of Trustees of the library strives to ensure that mission is manifest every single day. In 2015, we continued to work on the outlined goals of our strategic plan: to bolster our finances for the future; to modernize and make timely our collection and programming so they satisfy the needs, interests and desires of our com-munity; to provide exemplary patron and customer service; to develop and continually educate our staff; and to ensure that our library is a warm, comforting and safe space that enhances the mission, and is also a healthy, energy efficient and welcoming facility. Our library is only as good as its staff, Friends, and fellow trustees, and I appreciate the hard work that makes the li-brary a place to find great information, a varied collection of books, and a source of wonderful programs for all ages. I offer a sincere thank you to all who donated their time, their talent, and their financial support to the library. We could not do what we do without all of your help. I love our library. If you have not visited in a while, I encourage you to please stop in and see what is happening there. As always, you can find us on the internet or our Facebook page to see what is new. I promise you will find something there for everyone. - Dan Gale, President, Board of Trustees

From the President of the Friends Mark Twain once wrote, “Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” And while I’m not sure about the sleepy conscience part, the Kirkland Town Library is certainly blessed with the other two - especially “Good Friends!” This year the friends of the Kirkland Town Library proved, yet again, why they are so vital to the success of the Library and the area it serves. Throughout the year, community members and volunteers have pitched in their time, creativity, brawn, and positive energy in support of the KTL. From the annual Book Sale on the Vil-lage Green, to baking delicious treats for art show opening receptions, to envision-ing and creating an amazing and inspiring Poetry Path for all to enjoy, friends of the Library (once again) stepped up and made a positive impact on our little town. From the Friends of the KTL, we say “thank you.” - Steve Inzer, President, Friends of the Kirkland Town Library

From our Facebook page:

Love this library, and so does my toddler! The staff is so friendly and we have met

so many nice people from the neighborhood here. We love the story time that is of-

fered for the little ones, and the Hooked on Books program is great too! This is a

great place to come if you have children and need something to do, very family

friendly place, and if you are new to the area, it's a great place to meet new people!

From the Library Director As I reach the end of my 5th year as director of the Kirkland Town Library, my appreciation increases for all who make the library a jewel in our community. Thank you to:

• A truly dedicated and enthusiastic library staff. What a pleasure it is to come to work each day!

• The many adult and student volunteers who so will-ingly share their time and talents with us.

• The Board of Trustees for their strong leadership and commitment to the library.

• Our Friends group, whose enthusiasm is boundless and fundraising prowess is superb.

• The Kirkland Town Board, whose members, along with the County and State, provide the financial foundation for the library.

• Our benefactors, whose support is invaluable in allowing us to meet the needs of our community.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, thank you to all who use the library. Whether playing at the train table, coming for story times, meeting with a commu-nity organization, reading a daily newspaper, attending a program, job searching on the computers, doing your homework, or simply coming in to check-out a book or a movie, you are the reason we are here. Thank you for 115 years of making the Kirkland Town Library the best library there is – a commu-nity’s library! - Anne Debraggio, Director, Kirkland Town Library
