Mini School Daze CampGrades K through 5th

Break Day Fun! Mini camps will be offered when students are off for a half day or full day. On half days only, busing will be available to take students from their school to the CERC building. The mini camps are each themed and pack in lots of fun in a short amount of time! Childcare will be available in the morning and afternoon at full day camps and in the afternoon at half day camps.

Spring Break CampNo need to go out of town for Spring Break! Come hang out with your friends and have a guaranteed great time with our crazy camp counselors at our Spring Break Day Camp! This week long funfest will include wild and silly games, arts and crafts, swimming at the LOHS pool, computer lab, and lots of other camp craziness! Before (7–9 am) and after (4–6 pm) extended camp are available for $6 per session.

THE YOUNG AMERICANS, an internationally known troupe of 40 dynamic performers and 6 staff members, present an intensive 3-day workshop that teaches all aspects of the performing arts. On the last evening we present a spectacular two–hour show featuring the young workshop participants performing right alongside the Young Americans. Official YA t–shirt included. The main goals of the workshop are: to train young people in performance (singing, dancing, theater), to strengthen character and develop self–esteem, self–worth, and self–disci-pline, to share insight and understanding of different cultures and to encourage music in the schools of our nation and the world. Sign up early; space is limited. Host families are needed for THE YOUNG AMERICANS. If interested in hosting, contact Lori McGraw at [email protected] or 248–693–5436. Karate for KidsKarate for Kids is a program designed and taught by the same instructors that have provided martial arts classes to the Lake Orion Community Education families for 30 years. Directed by Grand Master Leo Mayer 8th Dan Black Belt, the program at this level will enhance, build and develop socialization skills, self–confidence and physical fitness. This class will accomplish these goals by using fun games, exercises and group activities that stress camaraderie. Ages 4 to 5 years. Class meets 8 times in CERC Activity B.

Spanish for Toddlers This class provides a great introduction of Spanish to our little ones! Designed specifically for children from 6 months to 5 years old accompanied by an adult. Tiny Tunes Piano Program, Beginner I & IIDesigned specifically for the Preschooler Pianist. This is a BIG FUN program. Lessons include musical alphabet, finger numbers, counting and clapping rhythms, drawing, coloring, tracing, correct hand positions, floating notes, games, snacks (supplied) and much more—including some Tiny Tunes. at Push Elite Fitness, home of Oakland County Crossfit,

Crossfit YouthOur program is geared and designed for kids and their specific developmental needs. We incorporate cognitive devel-opment exercises along with fun and effective exercise for the best academic enhancement possible! (Movement

based learning). CrossFit Youth is designed for all children—short, tall, big, small, athletic or athletically challenged. The focus of our kids’ program is to make fitness fun.

Ages 7 to 12. Classes meet from 5:30 to 6:15 pm.

Crossfit TeensThis class is for teens of all levels of fitness. Each class is structured in a way to include components of gymnastics, body–weight calisthenics, and weightlifting. This pairing of fitness and fun creates a lifelong love of health and fitness.

The winter recital will be Wednesday, Mar 25, at 6:30 pm.

Ballet/Tap/JazzThis class develops a dance work ethic in a positive atmosphere which builds self–esteem and camaraderie. The students will learn proper ballet placement, turnout, technique, vocabulary, turns, jumps, leaps, and extensions while incorporating them into many different styles of dance. Jazz incorporates stretching, across the floor combinations, and jazz routines. Tap concen-trates on both rhythmic and classical methods. Students will learn vocab-ulary, rhythmic timing, improvisation, and tap choreography.

Hip Hop & AcroFun, high energy, and upbeat! We begin each class with a thorough warm up taught to fast, bass pumping music, then learn today’s hottest dance style while we incorporate acrobatics. Dancers learn to isolate their bodies with control, precision, and rhythm. All music and choreography will be age appropriate.

GYMNASTICS BY STARZLake Orion Enrichment Services in cooperation with STARZ Performing Arts offers recreational children’s gymnastics lessons. There are three sessions: fall, winter, and spring. Join us for one, two, or all three sessions! Yearlong students in the program receive a trophy in June. Participants should wear leotards or fitness clothing (no jeans) and bring a water bottle. CERC provides a quiet waiting area in the main lobby where parents will remain during the class. A formal “Olympics” will be presented to the parents and guests on the last week to demonstrate skills and progress.

Twinkle Little STARZYour preschooler will enjoy learning the basics of tumbling in this action packed class! In addition to learning how to do forward rolls, jumps, head stands and more, your child will learn about the importance of exercising by moving to child–friendly music. Join the fun!

Shooting STARZ Gymnastics Team Please join us for year two for our USAA Level 1–3 gymnastics team for the more advanced gymnast. Team members will be expected to commit to the program from fall–spring 2020. Additional expenses (less than $150) include leotard, warm–ups, competition fees, and additional practices. Gymnasts are encouraged to register for open gym sessions and clinics as well.

ArcheryArchery is a life–time sport that improves focus and concen-tration skills, and is a sport that all ages can enjoy. This

four week “hands–on” class will teach partic-ipants the basics of archery including safety, techniques, mental concentration, and self–improvement. All equipment is provided, and the CERC archery range will be used. LOHS Archery Club Advisor Russ Stowers will be instructing the course.

GolfDuring this four–week course students will learn the fundamentals of the golf swing from proper set–up to transition, to impact, to follow–through. The tee shot, iron play from the fairway, chipping, short and long putting, basic rules of the game and proper etiquette will also be taught. Students will be equipped with junior clubs and will be hitting indoor golf balls from fairway like golf mats. This is a great class to introduce your child to the game of golf or to build on skills your child may already have. All equipment is provided but students are welcome to bring their own clubs. Our Instructor: Brent Davies is an International PGA and USGTF Certified Golf Teaching Professional and WGCA Professional Golf Coach.

Alliance Soccer Training AcademyTSC Alliance is continuing its Developmental League soccer program this winter indoors. This program is led by the club’s professionally licensed coaches and is based on a set curriculum (6 subjects). D–League is a year–round program, emphasizing “simple soccer” for all ranges of skill levels that still challenges players on technical aspects of competitive soccer. All participating players receive an official D–League jersey, as well as weekly rewards and soccer prizes. Each week, the program includes 25 minutes of technical training focusing on a particular soccer skill and 30 minutes of organized games emphasizing the subject of the day.

Each class meets 6 times. Classes will not meet on Feb 19 and Feb 20.

Toy Make and Take: RestaurantDramatic play (a type of play involving pretending, role–play, and imagination) offers many benefits to young children such as encouraging empathy, creative problem solving, and cooperative play. It is also one of my favorite ways to play and bond with my children. In this class we will be making items which will allow you to set up a pretend restaurant for dramatic play. Perfect for parents, caregivers, grandparents or even babysitters and teen siblings. Some items we will be making include a simple menu sign, pasta, and sauce. Bring a hot glue gun and scissors if you have them. Several glue guns will be made available to share. Scissors will also be available but if you are an avid crafter you may prefer your own pair. All other supplies provided. Registration fee includes $10 materials fee.

Class stresses safety and teaches parents how to help their child become comfortable in the water. Swimming diapers are required under swimsuit. This is the first introduction to the water with the parent and child. Learn to Swim Intermediate, 8 ClassesLevel 3 This class is for the child who can do a combined arm and leg action on the front and back independently for 5 body lengths. To exit this level, the child must be able to jump into deep water, recover, tread or float for 1 minute and do a 15 yard front crawl and elementary backstroke. Level 4 This class is for the child who can do front crawl for 15 yards; jump in deep water and do elementary backstroke for 15 yards. PiYoPiYo is designed to build strength, improve flexibility, and tone muscles—all in the same class! Using only your bodyweight, you will flow through sequences set to great music working every muscle and burning some serious calories. This is a 60–minute class. Please bring a yoga mat.

Gentle Moves YogaTake some time near the end of your week to stretch and strengthen those muscles that have worked hard all week. Join in this class as we learn to do simple yoga poses, balance, and meditative breathing. Enrichment & Swim RegistrationRegistration begins December 1, 2019. Course fees due at the time of registration. All material or book fees are additional and payable to instructor at first class. No registra-tion will be accepted at class. Confirmations will be mailed or emailed.

Senior Citizen DiscountDiscount is 10% off all enrichment classes. You must be a resident of the Lake Orion Community School District.

Class Date ChangesSometimes a class needs to be rescheduled or moved due to a build-ing activity. Advance notice will be given when possible. Please be sure to check your receipt for any import-ant notices.

General Registration InformationEnrichment Services programs are funded entirely by your fees. Any classes which do not meet the minimum enrollment requirements may be canceled. Please register early to enhance our planning and ability to provide you with ex-cellent service. Course fees are paid at the time of registration. Material fees, if applicable, are payable to the instructor at the first class.

RefundsFULL REFUND if a class is canceled by the office.

STUDENT-REQUESTED REFUNDS: A request must be made prior to the beginning of the second class, regardless of attendance. A processing fee of $10 will be deducted.

NO REFUNDS will be is-sued for classes/events meeting once or twice unless requested two business days in ad-vance of starting date.

ParkingParking for all events and classes held at CERC provided in the north parking lot behind the CERC Building. Visi-tors during the day must enter the CERC at the North Entrance.

School ClosingsIn the event of K-12 clos-ing due to bad weather, all enrichment classes will also be canceled.
