Lakemont Irrigation Update

Throughout the first of this year a portion of Lakemont’s irrigation water has been supplied by a combination of rainwater and well water. The water is being pumped using a pump station that was installed by the developer several years ago. As of August the system is now supplying the majority of water used for irrigation.

This is a huge benefit for the community because the water being used is free of all chemicals used to sanitize water that fills the MUD’s water lines. This cleaner water is much healthier and much better for the plants and grass. Another major benefit is that the water is much cheaper than metered water. Rainwater that fills the pond is free and the water from the well is a fraction of the cost of metered water.

The one major concern is that we are transitioning from 8-9 small sources of water to one main source of water, reducing the gallon per minute supply at one time. This, combined with the further expansion of Lakemont, is requiring LMS Inc. to change the irrigation scheduling, meaning that the irrigation system has to run more during the day. We will be working over the next few months to tweak the timing of the irrigation cycles, so that the irrigation doesn’t run during peak trail usage times.

Overall, this is a great thing for Lakemont and the value of your community and we, at LMS Inc., very much value our relationship with Lakemont. We look forward to our future managing your landscape.

Did you know that most Americans confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day?

Veterans Day gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. However, most Americans confuse this holiday with Memorial Day, reports the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day is Memorial Day honors service members who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle. Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day but the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime.

What's more, some Americans don't know why we commemorate our Veterans on Nov.11. It's imperative that all Americans know the history of Veterans Day so that we can honor our former service members properly.

A Brief History of Veterans DayVeterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, was originally

set as a U.S. legal holiday to honor the end of World War I, which officially took place on November 11, 1918. In legislation that was passed in 1938, November 11 was "dedicated to the cause of world

What Do You Know About Veterans Day?peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as 'Armistice Day.'" As such, this new legal holiday honored World War I veterans.

In 1954, after having been through both World War II and the Korean War, the 83rd U.S. Congress -- at the urging of the veterans service organizations -- amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word "Armistice" and inserting the word "Veterans." With the approval of this legislation on June 1, 1954, Nov. 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

THANK YOU TO ALL VETERANS FOR YOUR SERVICE AND BRAVERY!
